UAB Spam Team Spots First Presidential Campaign Spam
Anti-spam researchers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) noted a disturbing new trend following Sunday's Republican Candidates Presidential debate. One of the candidates has a new spam campaign dedicated to proclaiming him victorious in the debate and extolling his virtues as the future president.
There is no reason to believe the current spam campaign is actually endorsed by Ron Paul or his official campaign engine, according to Gary Warner, UAB Director of Research in Computer Forensics,
Ron Paul is popular with the Internet and some of the recent Web polls that were taken down because of Ron Paul Spammers include:

The new messages have headlines such as:
Ron Paul Wins GOP Debate!
Ron Paul Eliminates the IRS!
Ron Paul Stops Iraq War!
Vote Ron Paul 2008!

The full article is very damning
Ping
Ooooooooh. That's gonna leave a mark.
That’s my new tag line.
Well, well. I’m sure Paul is furiously scribbling his response, which condemns this spamming as we speak.
I replaced your item from Wired with a press release from its principal source. Hope that’s OK.
Thanks, I was looking around for another copy of this from a better source.
Ron Paul’s new campaign slogan: I spam, therefore I am.
You just can’t make this stuff up.
Read the link to the Wired article too, they have been doing their own research. We can’t post Wired here, but it is pretty damning.
The RonPaulForums people are trying to discredit the author by posting fake messages on their fake Rudy forum saying they are her and bragging how she got a fake article published.

These people are sick.
Well that sums it up pretty well...
As far as no connection, that maybe true, but then what drives your guy to attract such wonderful creatures there Jesse
More from the "No Jews, Just Right" folk.
Sick, yes...
Criminal, I am beginning to think so...
Ron Paul spammers have rendered the post-Republican debate polling process even more meaningless than it already is. News outlets shouldn’t even bother conducting polls anymore.
This needs to be spread around FR so folks will know what is going on.
But, but, RP has no control over what people do in his name. He's not encouraging this activity, and if he could refute it he would...Uh, I mean...Well, you're an anti-Paul wingnut!!
(The following is not in any way an endorsement or excuse for the behavior)
This is an incredibly healthy phenomenon. The end results of this can only strengthen democratic institutions and undermine many of the mainstream media’s remaining tools to manipulate and mold their press coverage of politics.
How many people on FR have complained about some cable news channel’s obviously bogus flash online poll that they display during a broadcast and try to pass off the results as newsworthy?
The Paul supporters will put an end to that.
How many on FR have listened to talking head pundits go on about “online buzz” for a candidate or issue, when you know full well the “buzz” is coming from lunatic fringe websites and blogs?
The Paul supporters will put an end to that.
How many people on FR have seen the comments sectinos of their favorite blogs and online news sources turn into trolling flame wars that result in the comments section and the website’s online community being adversely affected?
The Paul supporters will put an end to that.
The systems in online media are still rather soft targets for attacks and exploits performed by even semi sophisticated hackers/exploiters.
One more thing...
is it legal for a ISP to block a email that is obstensibly (not actually) from a legitimate US political campaign?
Forcing the major media to forgo polling after debates is a POSITIVE step forward in the US political arena.
