Some of the suspected al-Qaida operatives fled, prompting U.S. and Afghan security forces to attack the men and others holed up in the house “threatening coalition forces,” according to a statement released by the U.S. military on Monday. What! I thought the Afghanis and Iraqis resented the US and our illegal occupation in their countries.

This is also a story today - happened in the same place - the Korengal Valley, Kunar District -
Battle Company, 2nd/503rd Sky Soldiers Airborne - it mentions they were from “Caserma Ederle “ - that’s the home base of the 173rd in Vicenza, Italy.

16 KIA already - they deployed in June = will be in that God Forsaken hole - OBL’s home turf (he’s been there more in the past few years than in Pakistan, a hop-skip-jump over the border.)
It’s tough going - getting bitter cold, high mountains, and they are out in it day and night - here’s a link to photos of a patrol "A" company of the 173rd just did - they patrol the same area...it will soon be choked with snow - OBL was photographed 2 winters ago scooting down these very mountains to hole up in the Valley for the winter...
