My wife and daughter are home now but were just downtown, but north of there on Shiawassee.
It is still entirely possible that this was a drill, just not one run by the city...

From your Dad’s photo and the article (”one device sitting on a post.....another one in a garbage can nearby” and “brought to the xray machine in the middle of the street” it would seem the large box is the x-ray equipment and the small thing in front is the “device”.

Sorry I wasn’t on top of this, I’ve been going full tilt the last few days. Turned out to be nothing, they didn’t even empty the buildings, but you know how it is—better safe than blown to bits.
