Actually, it was Tennessee Ernie Ford that made it popular as “Bless your l’il ole pea pickin’ heart”.
Actually, I can use all the blessings I can get. Your good wishes could not possibly offend me.
There is way too much hostility out here among good, solid conservative people that are solid Americans. On these boards we have an unprecedented opportunity to put this hostility to bed permanently and work together to return our country to a Free Republic as it should be.
(Flag waving /off)
Have a good afternoon (with my blessings).

You don’t really have to shout and you did not give a citation. Perhaps I would make another response if I know who you are quoting. Sounds like a baptist preacher at a tent revival.

it is a Michigan a local paper you got something wrong with Michigan now? This is not a local paper, it is a service that sells its products to newspapers. Does invisigoth have permission to post these articles?

It’s funny, the only people who take the patristics out-of-context more often than the Mormons are the Catholics!

As an Agnostic, there isn’t much a difference to me if the candidate is a Baptist, Mormon, Buddhist, Odinist, or Wiccan. If they promise to uphold the Constitution, not “promote Democracy” around the world (yet strike hard at our enemies), and just say no to nannystatist nonsense, then they have my vote.

I know a small amount about the early history of the LDS movement.
Certainly enough to know that they were viewed primarily as a political rather than a religious threat, in no small part due to Joseph Smith's inability to resist the temptations of theocracy.
I just fail to see the theocrat in Mitt Romney.

The only thing I have to say about this is ... Mike Huckabee (a Baptist) telling us how we should live, and Mitt Romney (a Mormon) not telling us how we should live. I find this very telling.
Actually, there are problems with both. Huckabee is soft on illegal immigration and Romney seems to be into government solutions for healthcare. In both cases, it would seem, they have ideas about how we should live that they are willing to use the government to bring about.

Feel much the same way. . .but am not sure, Fred's 'drollness' could not used 'for' him against Hillary; but I know what you mean; as does anyone watching him, for that matter. But I do 'like' him. Am supporting Mitt for the most part; but in truth, will now support whichever candidate wins our primary. Our next President, must have at least an 'R' if even an 'r'; beside his name. . .as I firmly believe, our country will not survive long, as we know it - as we want to know it; with Hillary at the helm.

Yah, “5.” in post 174 is devastating to Mormon cosmology as well in the denial of the possiblity of multiple gods in different “territories” which is the basic Mormon idea as I understand it. I’m really surprised that Mormon apologists would try to use Iraneaus in support of their views (not Broncobilly . . . I think he’s just spouting stuff he grabbed from a BYU/LDS website . . . but the apologists that quote them and rely on the laziness or ignorance of their readers to not check them out). Broncobilly, please let the Lord lead you to check out the writings of these men yourself.

I daresay the number of Congressmen who are likewise linked to said affiliations is probably over 90 percent.Yep, and look what we have. I think your idea of looking at past performance rather than the faith label is a good one. Faith labels often don't tell us much, as you pointed out.

If they promise to uphold the Constitution, not promote Democracy around the world (yet strike hard at our enemies), and just say no to nannystatist nonsense, then they have my vote. This is the best statement I have read. These threads go in circles over the same subject over and over again. Those who believe one way will most likely stay within those beliefs. It's old. Can we talk about Romney for what he has or hasn't done, rather than his spiritual beliefs. I don't care if a candidate worships troll dolls as long as the above applies.
To: broncobilly
They say if you dont believe the 1 in 3 and 3 in 1 formula then I will spew all kinds of hatred towards you.
At last, we are at the crux of the matter.
If you do not believe in the 1 in 3 and 3 in 1 formula, then you are not a Christian.
That is not hatred, it is a theological fact.
But you are rather cheerfully glossing over the Mormon position on what 2000 years of Christianity means. The position is simple - both Catholics and Protestants practice an utterly corrupt faith. I can deal with that, and still vote for Romney. But it is dishonest on your part not to acknowledge this.

Yep, and look what we have.ah, touche'!
Yes, unfortunately, as you hear financial counselors give their "past performance is not indicative of future prospects" disclaimer, so is true of mere "affiliations." But as I said, I take into consideration the "other-worldly commitments" (or lack thereof) of candidates into consideration...even when their affiliation is "orthodox."
I think God purposely raises up folks to "shame" the empty orthodox folks.
The Samaritans weren't total heretics on everything...but we have "The Good Samaritan" parable in Scripture for a reason...Scripture does give examples of what you might call "God-fearers" (folks outside of Israel in the OT & Judeo-Christianity in the NT) who still respected God.
Still, we have folks who are openly militating vs. Christianity and its standards; it's those folks who I can't bring to vote for.
