Who shoots a gun by pulling the trigger with their thumb? Someone not too familiar with guns?
Seriously, I'm not sure on the specifics of where (on his body) Vince Foster allegedly shot himself; maybe he figured pulling the trigger with his thumb was more ergonomically comfortable?? ;-)

If you put the gun in your mouth, it is. I’m not sure how he shot himself.

People being creatures of habit and conformity, would still pull the trigger the familiar way. Like a bridge jumper taking his shoes and watch off before jumping into the water.
Someone planting the gun could have stuck the thumb in the trigger guard. With the unconscious desire to keep the gun from falling away from the hand.

IIRC, the slug entered the soft palate. Then again, I may just need a nap.

I believe it was behind his left ear - and for a right handed person that trick would be nearly impossible .. and begs the question, why not shoot yourself in the right side when it was so much easier.
And .. there is a book, “Failure of the Public Trust”, written by John Clarke, Patrick Knowlton and Hugh Turley. In this book, they have great discriptions of where the bullet entered, etc.; thereby proving the almost impossible task of committing suicide in that manner.
Patrick Knowlton was harrassed by the Clintons because Patrick just happened to stop at Ft. Marcy Park right about the time Vince Foster was being found dead in the park. It’s an interesting and scary story.
