Not every war crime is a genocide. There are other atrocities.

Genocide is an attempt to eradicate a people or a culture. The Nazis attempted to eradicate Jews in Poland. They did not attempt to eradicate Poles. (Though, if they’d succeeded in eradicating European Jews, they would probably have turned on the Slavs next).

I agree with this. So as Soviets didn’t attempt to eradicate Poles. Katyn massacre is the warcrime but not genocide.

Sure not every war crime is a genocide.

But - as I quoted above - genocide is a mass murder committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group.

So - as I have already said - if the Soviets wanted to murder Poland's social elites (to create the "new Soviet people" of the rest)- that was also a genocide.

Funny thing is, that Russia denies to recognize Katyn massacre both as a genocide (with arguments like those of RusIvan's) and a war crime.

Do you know how they explain the latter stance?

Because Soviet Union has never declared war against Poland, so there was no war, and the officers murdered in Katyn were not POWs (LOL!)

Today's Russian prosecutors maintain, that Katyn massacre was nothing but a series of 20.000 single murders.

That's logic, isn't it?
