There may be a time for second best, but until then, why not the best? Hunter meets my definition of a perfect conservative better than any candidate of the last 24 years.

Hunter’s problem has always been he hasn’t been well-known on the national stage. Candidates usually need more than one try at the office to reach the right level of recognition.
I think a Thompson-Hunter ticket would probably satisfy most here, and give Hunter the kind of widespread recognition he needs to really contend for the big job.

Why not vote for a real Conservative then, even if say Hunter goes third party? I understand why people will just say "there's nothing I can do, might as well vote for the lesser of two evils", but at the same time we will always end up with the lesser of two evils unless we do something - either take back the party or put another one on par with the main two parties.
