Wow, imagine hicks with their own minds. This is incredible. I thought country music performers were all Republicans and Hillbillies.

From the article: I've had a lot of fans come up to me and ask, 'Why are you so hot on Fred Thompson,' " said Rich, a minister's son from Dickson County. "I tell them, I did my due diligence on all the candidates, I pulled up everything they ever voted on, and it became really clear to me that Fred Thompson is the only consistent conservative."This Rich guy shows why he's a musician. Apparently he did no diligence in researching Duncan Hunter. He needs to stick to putting out the twang twang.

"This country needs to be honest," Haggard sings in "Hillary," the single he introduced during a cross-country tour this year. Merle must be growing senile. How else could he use that "honesty" line in a song supporting Hillary Clinton? That's like including a line calling for border enforcement in a song praising La Raza.
But after a lifetime of voting Republican, Haggard has declared himself fed up with the war, with American jobs going overseas and with Wal-Mart replacing mom-and-pop shops. He says he's ready to vote for a Democrat.
Let's see....Hillary supports NAFTA and outsourcing. She once served on the board of Wal-Mart. And she voted for the war (though she now waffles on the issue).
Yep, Merle's growing senile.

OK, I feel better about Troy but I’m very disappointed about Merle. I switch stations if I even suspect it is the Al Queda Chicks. Really annoys the wife.

Big and Rich are the real deal. Limbaugh told a story of how Big bought him a cocktail after learning Rush was dining there.

A musician's politics don't usually have much to do with record sales. McGraw is a staunch Democrat. He and his wife, Faith Hill, gave $15,000 to the Democratic Party in the last election cycle but not under their stage names. In campaign-finance documents, they are listed as Samuel and Audrey McGraw. These are their given first names. Due to tax reasons, wouldn't you have to use them if they are still your legal names?

Cowboy Troy, aka Troy Coleman, spent long evenings talking politics with John Rich and Gretchen Wilson as they toured together. The new father of triplet sons said fatherhood inspired him to look for a presidential candidate who shared his conservative political and social values.
"Being a new father renews your sense of the future," Coleman said. "Fred Thompson believes what he says, and I believe what he's about."

I think this article is a bit deceiving. They threw out a handful of well known CW singers which, I doubt, are representative of the whole lot of them. Also, I wonder if they would have mentioned that Cowyboy Troy is black had he been supporting a democrat instead of Thompson.

It’s funny that Haggard is now on the same side as “the hippies out in San Fran-cisco”...as he warbles in one of his songs.
