The reality is that very few people in national politics had a freaking clue about the threat al-Qaeda posed to this country. If you want a real eye-opener, just do an internet search on the term "al-Qaeda" along with the name of any other dope in the Bush administration who has been instrumental in the so-called "war on terror" . . . the lack of any search results dating back before 9/11 speaks volumes. This administration was no better prepared to deal with al-Qaeda than the last one was.
I don’t hold his lack of knowledge about terrorism against him, as a person. I do find it offensive that he is using a myth, that he is some sort of terrorism expert and has studied it for 30 years, as a basis for his campaign.
How many terrorist incidents were there in NYC before 9/11? Quite a few, as I recall. In response to one, Rudy used it as an opportunity to join with the gun-grabbers calling for more gun control. His liberal instincts in the time of crisis were to encroach on more freedoms of U.S. citizens. Any vision was totally absent. This is not a good thing in selecting a President!
