Well thank you IB.
Although....hey, go with me here...these people have, to say it lightly, mixed emotions about me. I am considered a loose canon and truth be, I AM a loose cannon (pick your spelling). I’m not proud of it. At times I give myself lectures that...”Pat you’re going to keep your mouth shut, you’re not going to say a word...” yada, yada. Then something sets me off.
It hurts me except I can, in time, climb and crawl my way into some respect because, heh, most times I am right. I’m not proud of this, insert wink here, as if someone came along and was a good leader I’d be right there following behind.
As I travel about mighty Sussex county, it’s almost everywhere I go, to Walmart or even my church choir, which used to have me as a singer my fine self, I meet people who want to talk to me about politics, who want things changed, who look upon me as a leader.
Well I’m not anybody’s leader. I got a big mouth, yes I’m sarcastic and at times I do it well. But my bigger talent is my ability to write and I’ll not be running for any political office or selling my soul any time soon.
I’d love to be a writer for the average American and in a sense, as a Blogger, I am. But Americans are like cats...we just can’t be herded.
Ah....I’ll end with this anecdote....my church needs a “welcome” booklet. Damn, this church was just built in 2003 and the parish grew so fast that we just recently built a great big Parish Life Center and another big building. We got a great big parking lot and hey, it’s a rich and influential parish...so sue us.
Except the growth was so fast that the very nice people who used to head the various ministries are a bit overwhelmed or not quite filled with the talents now needed for a big parish.
So we need a booklet thing, a little thing we can give out during “welcoming” masses, which used to be every quarter but now is once a month. This month we got 48 new families joining.
So the couple heading the welcoming committee, nicest people on the planet, they got me pulling my hair out. They called me up because I filled out some form or another and said I would be on the welcoming committee. But I’d just quit the choir because, truthfully, I see myself maybe working on this Delaware governor campaign. I love the choir but darn that took up half my life.
But I agree to come to this welcoming committee thing and by this time my big mouth already proceeds me and again, there’s mixed emotions. Yet I was one mighty alto in that choir and I got right in there and create WAVE files from practice and emailed them to missing choir members and soon enough Pat Fish became someone thought to be very talented.
Oh, and don’t forget these two very big businesses I consult for here in Sussex county and hey, they’ve been with me for almost 15 years now. These are wealthy people but they pay ME for my advice. And advice I got plenty of. They’re real happy about my involvement with this governor thing as they are Jewish too and Republicans. Smart business people are always Republicans.
But I go to this welcoming committee thing and I swear to God I’m not going to open my mouth, I’m just going to shut up.
Almost an hour and a half went by and I didn’t say a word. I was about to go nuts but I doodled and looked out the window while this lovely couple kept shoving something called a “mission statement” in my face and I know they’re talking to me. Well damn I can re-write a mission statement with half my brain tied behind my back but I sure ain’t gonna volunteer. This is the new Pat Fish, kinder, gentler, a little scared of Delaware’s vicious RINOs.
“So what do you think, Pat?” the guy finally says and now why did he say this?
Cause it turns out that the church has a great web page
http://www.stjudeslewesde.org/
but someone was needed to copy the web page to a booklet sort of thing that can be given to new members.
Well the guy asked me. I mean, hey, I can make a mean web page witness my Blog. No reason I can’t deconstruct one and make it into a booklet.
So the thing is already done and it looks great. Got all the mass times, pics of the priest and deacons, info on all the ministries. For now I printed it on 8X11.5 paper but come 11/14/07 when The Wise I is leading the Welcoming committee meeting I am going to have the rest of the handbook sub-committee format the thing into a booklet and boom....
Heh. Piece of cake.
Wait till my choir director finds this out. I told her I had to quit because of time constraints.
I’m still debating whether to go back to the SCRWC meetings...I got a couple of weeks to decide.
I just can’t stand people to pee upon our feet and tell us it’s raining. I dare say the rest of the conservatives in this country are saying the same thing.
I think you can only search back 30 days for completed auctions, using eBay’s search function. I have found some older ones just using Google. Then look at the cached results. You might try that. Then, I haven’t read the whole thread yet. Someone may have mentioned that.
Did Chris Matthews really say, at the end of his segment about Hillary’s excuses for staying with Bill, that perhaps women forgave Hillary for staying with Bill because at least she had a man?
(I tried to get the transcript, but it wasn’t posted yet.)
No, “ex” governor of Arkansas. My point is that she has an ex governor in her group of advisers without going to Richardson, etc.
It went a bit beyond many of us speculating that the Clintons were pulling Blanco's strings. Several of us, Miss Marple the most prominent, figured the purpose was to provoke Bush to the point where he would take over because Blanco was not protecting her citizens.
If he had done so, he would have committed an actual impeachable offense. IIRC he practically begged Blanco publically to call in fedgov and she refused. We figured they wanted him to overstep his legal authority so they could slam him with impeachment, but he did NOT take the bait. Of course, they rewarded that by accusing him of not caring about the people, especially black people.
We certainly thought the Clintons were designing the attempted take down because Blanco doesn't have enough brain cells to figure out the impeachment strategy. AG, I didn't know until now that it was KNOWN that the Clintons were pulling the strings. True evil.
as well the general who told reporters they were stuck on stupid also told em the hurrican’s location all the way to the barametric pressures hourly.
It’s not what the devil’s advocates did,it’s what we good folks did not o about it.
Thanks Snugs. We have had company all weekend and the wife cooked the strawberry dessert from a couple weeks ago. It didn’t look quite as good as yours but it sure was delicious.
Hope all is well in your corner of the world.
For a few, Garfield was elected directly from the House, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford and George H. W. Bush, all had served in the House.
You left out that Nixon was a Senator.
And I also forgot to mention the obvious that Johnson was a vice president as well.
Ah yes, the “Downing Street Memo” that was written by a reporter on a pizza box. Real authentic stuff, for sure.
Pardon the digression...
Ford was the Republican (minority) leader of the House when nominated to be Vice President. He was never a Senator.
This sort of thing is a good reason to check Wikipedia. For strictly factual matters of like this they tend to get it right. Couldn’t use it for scholarly work of course.
Yes, I corrected myself in an earlier post.
So I saw. Perhaps I should have finished the thread before I posted, but I probably would have forgotten whom to post to.
> Arnold did a great job handling the fires. Too bad he cant be a little more conservative allll the time instead of just when the spirit moves him.
Have him spend some time with Gov. Jindal.
I like Bobby Jindal, but I must say I think there is some speech coach out there that tells politicians there are certain hand gestures they MUST use when speaking and it just disturbs me. It looks fake and contrived. Sen. Salazar is the worst. Pat Buchanan also has that annoying hand chop without which he cannot speak. Pelosi with her pointer finger in the air must also have had this coach.

If we remember back even before Katrina, the libtards were trying to find something, anything they could use to impeach Bush. They even tried some goofy UK memo that gave somebody's "opinion" that intel had been sexed up...It went a bit beyond many of us speculating that the Clintons were pulling Blanco's strings. Richardson made comments that homosexuals chose their behavior and supports boycotting the Olympics in China (ala Carter), plus other positions hes taken that showed he is not ready for prime time yet. On the plus side he brings the Hispanic vote into play but Im not convinced he is needed to do that nor is he that popular with the radical left that Hillary has to contend with.

I 100% agree with you on the Clintons and Blanco conspiring to prevent Bush from helping. Heck, those of us on the hurricane threads spotted it right away.It has been my long-held opinion that the democrats had formulated a plan in case there was another terrorist attack. That is why Kerry kept yammering about no security in the harbors and Hillary kept emphasizing that we werent funding first-responders. They had a plan all ready to go for the next terrorist attack, but too bad for them (and good for us) one never happened. So when Katrina came along, they rolled out their plan and used it against Bush during the hurricane and its aftermath.Whenever I hear people say that it will take another terrorist attack to bring us together, I remind them of Katrina, because if we are hit again, the coverage will be just like Katrina coverage. Shep Smith will probably be on air crying about why we werent prepared, and Geraldo will be taking cameras into the blast zone, spewing all sorts of accusatory comments at the President.

This is true, though I'd say that 1960-1976 was skewed by a disproportionate frequency of Presidential successions. Only 5 former VPs have been elected, but 9 have succeeded to the Presidency.I certainly agree that the trend has been in favor of governors, but I would also argue that it's possible that we may be seeing a (and I hate this term) paradigm shift with this election. No one yet knows what impact the increasing influence of the internet and 24-hour news is going to have on Presidential politics. It could well be that these and other factors will weaken the position of governors running for President. Certainly it has disproportionately enhanced the name recognition of US Senators

And now it seems that some of the Louisiana Dims may be going the same way. I was impressed with the Jindal interview on FNS.In a time of political turmoil when we have the Pubs being assailed by a collection of ideological Mad Hatters from without and within the party, it's nice to see voters in Louisiana getting it Right. It's not easy to fool a majority that has suffered at the hands of those who bring nothing to the table but "I feel your pain..." Especially when the termites making those empty declarations are responsible for the pain!
