IRNA managing director regrets dissemination of fabricated news on Iran

Managing Director of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) Jalal Fayyazi on Thursday expressed regret over dissemination of fabricated and unreal news on Iran.

Speaking to Spanish news agency, EFE, on the sidelines of the second world congress of news agencies in the city of Estepona, he said many of the news disseminated by international mass media on Iran are fabricated and unreal.

"The Iranian people want other nations to have access to authentic and true information on their country," he said.

According to EFE, a number of world mass media refuse to reflect realities on Iran and through dissemination of fabricated news on the country's developments bring about a complicated situation leading to confusion of world public opinion.

"It is very difficult to find any news regarding Iran's campaign against terrorism," Fayyazi said.

Given Spain's high potential in tourism industry, Iran has many untapped capabilities which should be explored through mutual cooperation, he said.

On Iran's peaceful nuclear activities, he said it is the legitimate right of all nations to have access to peaceful nuclear energy because the world's energy resources are on the decline.

There is no room for nuclear weapons in Iran's policy because the Iranian nation is among victims of weapons of mass destruction used by the former Baathist regime of Iraq during its eight year imposed war on Iran, he pointed out.

Over 1,200 reporters in about 30 countries around the globe work for IRNA and disseminate their news in different languages such as English, Spanish, French, Arabic, Chinese and Russian, Fayyazi said.

The IRNA managing director heading a delegation arrived in southern city of Estepona in Spain Tuesday to attend the second world congress of news agencies.

He signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with EFE's managing director on expansion of professional cooperation between the two news agencies.

Representatives of 90 news agencies from 80 countries have participated in the second world congress to discuss challenges facing mass media in the age of internet.

LOL yeah ok. Your own people don’t even get that.

Of course, in an ironic way, neither do we Americans anymore.

One of the heads of Iranian regime’s propaganda machine is sorry about the rest of the world reporting “fabricated and unreal news” about Iran.

LOL!

Googling their website, I read that it’s “the leading Spanish language news agency and the fourth largest news agency in the world” and has been around for more than 60yrs.
does that help at all? ;~ )

“Over 1,200 reporters in about 30 countries around the globe work for IRNA and disseminate their news in different languages such as English, Spanish, French, Arabic, Chinese and Russian, Fayyazi said.”

The above is very telling even if 50% true.

There is no doubt that many & many people particularly in the Arab/muslim world completely believe what IR’s propaganda machine disseminates. Mullahs are much more popular in the Muslim and Arab world than in Iran, even if the majority of the Muslim countries are Sunnis. They see anything negative about Iran as propaganda by the West, even if told by Iranians!

Mullahs and people like Ahmadinejad are perceived to represent “Islam”; besides, they are perceived to be standing up to a superpower, when these same Muslims and Arabs see their own pro-west governments as puppets of the West and tyrants.

Unfortunately, we don’t seem to have a counter-strategy, and it is mostly about perceptions in the Arab-Muslim world.

It is quite frightening.
