Have you forgotten that until relatively recently Catholic women wore similar headgear in church,,matillas. And Brides wear Veils. And very sophisticated wmen wear hats with veils.
THis is silly if you ask me.

Just mentioned because I was rereading Paul's epistle to the Corinthians and, well, each time I read I notice stuff I didn't notice previously.

I recall that non-Catholic women who went to Mass with me would wear head covering, and come out of church still not Catholic. ( I still think that hats, in particular with veils, are flattering to women.) Laura Bush handled the situation perfectly both because she has an innate sense of grace and class, and because she is gracious and knows how to act when representing the United States.
