Hunter: No, in the past I have opposed the Law of the Sea Treaty. I expect that to continue. There are serious issues of sovereignty involved, and as in the past, I have no intention of letting US sovereignty be eroded.

Nice sentiments - I agree with him that it is a horrible idea, and I'm glad he's in favor of retaining our full sovereignty over our territory.

BUT.

What can a member of the House do about it? Nothing except jaw-boning. If the Senate ratifies LOST, then it becomes the law of the land and WE are lost. The Senate is the key. It is nice to hear from people on this, but we need 34 particular people to oppose this.

You are right about the senate, of course. However, I can assure you if Duncan Hunter were president, this LOST nonsense wouldn’t even be coming up.
