And who helped Rangel cut a deal? Eliot Spitzer -

The Apollo was the subject of controversy in 1998, when the New York attorney general, Dennis C. Vacco, sued the theater and six members of its foundation board - including Representative Charles B. Rangel, the Harlem congressman who was then the board's chairman - and accused them of mismanaging the Apollo's finances. Although Mr. Rangel denied wrongdoing, he resigned as chairman and later agreed to leave the board as part of a settlement with Mr. Vacco's successor, Eliot L. Spitzer.

Rush, if you are lurking, here is a reply from one of my stupendous Senators: (just thought I would share with the rest of my Freeper buddies)

Dear Kerretarded:

Thank you for contacting me regarding recent actions taken by members of the Senate in response to comments made by radio personality Rush Limbaugh.

Mr. Limbaugh’s comments made on September 26, 2007 implied certain members of the military were less patriotic than others. I have received numerous letters in the last few weeks expressing outrage at inflammatory remarks made by policymakers, political groups, radio personalities, and celebrities. The individuals and groups that are the focus of these letters either made a controversial statement about a member of the military, or responded in a controversial manner to such statements.

The common thread in these letters is a view I share: addressing concrete issues is far more productive than debating the appropriateness of comments protected by the first amendment. However, I do think that the vigorous debate over the MoveOn.org ad and Rush Limbaugh’s comments have served one important purpose: it has reminded this nation that while Rush Limbaugh, MoveOn.org, the Swiftboat Veterans, and any other group or individual has the First amendment right to free speech, personal attacks on past or present members of the military are offensive and counterproductive. I supported an amendment to the Defense Authorization Act that reflected this basic premise, and I signed a letter to the sponsor of Rush Limbaugh’s radio program, Clear Channel, that made the same point.

Regardless of the source and the motivation, vitriolic attacks on members of the military deflect attention from the pressing issues upon which our nation should be focused, including the need to ensure our troops are properly equipped, receive the benefits they deserve, and are redeployed as soon as possible.

Thank you again for contacting me.

Sincerely,

Sherrod Brown

Obviously, this man was a graduate from our government schools because he has a problem with reading and comprehension. First, this "senator" still believes that Rush was talking about ACTUAL soldiers. He parrots the talking point that attacks such as the one that Rush didn't do are offensive to current and former soldiers. Second, I didn't see Sherrod Brown go to the floor of the Senate to censure Pete Stark. I can't find where Sherrod Brown has signed a letter which was sent to Pete Stark for making ACTUAL offensive comments. Third, he views it as an attack on the same level as the MoveOn "Betray-Us" ad. And finally, when Sherrod Brown decided to include the Swiftboat Veterans in this response, he forgot to mention one more individual who made offensive comments: JOHN KERRY!!!!

Perhaps a “Surge” would encourage Mr. Brown to actually check primary sources instead of relying on Dingy Harry’s and Media Matters’ talking points before committing himself in writing. This guy’s a buffoon on so many levels.

Don't forget Bush's new tone! We can't offend anyone by keeping them away! That wouldn't be fair!

Scary. That lunatic could have seriously hurt Condi. There is no excuse for that to happen. Someone's head needs to roll. Dems are despicable, because they keep allowing this to happen.

Since Mother Shehag is now a non-person, they have to generate some publicity somehow.

The Dem leadership knew ahead of time that woman would do what she did when Condi showed up.
