Yes they would . Anything is possible and given all of our candidates , we could assemble quite an administration ...

Now compare that with the current crop of Dims ....lol
Edwards for A.G. , Biden for SecDef , Dodd for Treasury , Obama for Sec of State , Kucinich for DHS , Gravel for HHS , Richardson for Agri-sec -as it appears he loves food ....

At the very least, Hunter made the immigration issue a centerpiece of the debates instead of letting all the candidates dodge the issue. Duncan Hunter seems like an exceptional human being above all the politicians I’ve seen. But he’s not enough of a politician. Someone like Hillary will rip him to shreds. He’ll stand there and be upstanding and polite and direct and Hillary just run with it and mimic him or just outmaneuver him with trickery. You’re going to have to send in someone a little more savvy to the lions cage.

He’s resigning from Congress? That sucks. Now we have one less champion fighting against illegal immigration.

“It might serve Free Republic for us to have some Newbie threads on the candidates, where we don’t post anything but the candidate’s positions on issues, and then have the moderator lock the thread so it can’t be hijacked.”

That is a fantastic idea! Noob-ly speaking.

He’s stepping down.

His son is gonna run for his seat. He is busy right now. Doing his 2nd or 3rd tour in Iraq.

Tancredo as ambassador to Mexico would make him fear for his life everyday-yikes! Give it to Rudy Giuliani instead. LOL Tancredo should truly help in eliminating illegal immigration problems throughout the U.S., and there are a variety of federal entities that he could join to do just that. John Bolton as Homeland Security and Duncan Hunter as Secretary of Defense would be awesome. Bob Dole could do Veterans Affairs while Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee could do any possible business related cabinet openings. All of this is thinking too far ahead at this point.

Hunter made a huge mistake by not going to Iowa early and often, and hiring no campaign staff here till right before the straw poll.

I begged, BEGGED, his son and campaign manager last winter to get organized in Iowa and get people here to the county central committee meetings. Couldn’t get them to move. Hunter should have got the bump from the straw poll Huckabee did. Opportunity missed, hopefully he can make it up somewhere.

The Tancredo/Mexico ambassadorship was a little joke. LOL Isn’t Bob Dole in his mid-to-late eighties? Seems too old to run the 2nd largest federal department, IMO.

Mike Gravel, Ben Nelson, Sam Nunn, and Zell Miller could be nice picks for any position where a Republican President must pick a Democrat for the position. There are still some Democrats out there who truly are not “far leftists”.

There is no doubt that this is a good move for Fred, and his lack of involvement with the issue in the past means that he can take a tough stance and not be accused of flip-flopping or pandering. Giuliani's criticism of "what did Fred do about this in the Senate" is weak...no one in the Senate did anything. Hunter and Tancredo have the best positions on this because of their past tough lines on it, and because they have made a difference in the House, but among the other candidates, including the big three: Rudy, Romney and McCain, Fred stands to gain a lot of support from this and can undoubtedly run the table on all of them.

At the very least, Hunter made the immigration issue a centerpiece of the debates instead of letting all the candidates dodge the issue.

I credit Hunter with being right on this issue. But, Tom Tancredo also placed this issue at the center of his campaign, and also managed to place a spotlight on it at the debates.

Hunter needed to find some way to stand out from the crowd and also distinguish himself from Tom Tancredo, and didn't.

I figured it was a joke, but it would be very interesting for sure if Tom Tancredo accepted it. Almost all of the ‘08 GOP Presidential candidates would do well in cabinet positions as well as in other federal positions with the exception of Ron Paul. Ron Paul could help in an Area 51 position. LOL
