Iran to Buy 24 Jet Fighters from China

Iran has signed a deal with China to buy two squadrons of J-10 fighter planes that are based on Israeli technology, the Russian news agency Novosti reported yesterday. The 24 aircraft are based on technology and components provided to China by Israel following the cancellation of the Lavi project in the mid-1980s. The engines of the J-10 are Russian-made.
The total cost of the planes is estimated at $1 billion, and deliveries are expected between 2008 and 2010.
The estimated operational range of the aircraft, with external fuel tanks, is 3,000 kilometers, which means Israel falls within their radius of operation.
During the 1980s, Israel Aircraft Industries, along with U.S. firms, developed a multi-role aircraft that was considered the most advanced of its type at the time.
Following the development of a prototype, the Reagan administration stopped funding, bringing about the cancellation of the joint project.
Israel then began selling some of the systems it had developed to various countries, including China.

Thats the Wong Wei to do things...........
If it’s any consolation, the joysticks are made of melamine.
They might have bought 24 now, but they will be hungry again in 30 minutes.
It should take the Israeli Air Force about 10 minutes to shoot them down when “zero hour” arrives.
Ejection seats, standard equipment... canopy release optional.
and everything’s covered in lead paint
Should be easy pickens.
Target practice/road kill. China knows how to offload useless inventory.
The quality of pilots is probably more important. I have no idea about how good pilots are in Iran. Typically, arab countries have had good planes and bad pilots (ie not enough training, independent thinking and IQ).
These planes should not be a serious threat for some time, but never underestimate the enemy. Arab countries can lose a war as they always get to attempt it again, but a defeat for Israel would be permanent.
The Lavi is the basis for the new Chinese jet.
USS Liberty.
So where did my original post to you about this go???
The Mod locked the thread (duplicate) and pointed to this thread.
Oh. I see. Thought I was imagining things.....
LOL
Actually, I suspect they have backed down on previous occasions simply to appease the U.S.
