Fred would need a Republican Senate and House to get this through.

Often simple answers/remedies work for so called complex problems. This action would gut the illegal aliens support networks and cities.

“Fred Thompson yesterday became the first major presidential candidate to embrace attrition as the solution to illegal entry, saying the government should deny illegal aliens a hiding place by cracking down on the businesses and sanctuary cities that shield them.

In the first major policy announcement of his campaign, Mr. Thompson said the federal government should punish sanctuary cities by denying them some federal funds and also should withhold money from states and localities that offer social services to illegal aliens.

“Taxpayer money should not be provided to illegal immigrants,” Mr. Thompson said at a round-table discussion in Florida yesterday.

We have seen 70+ ERs and hospitals (shut down) in my state by absorbing the cost of illegals.

Seen this?

Confirmed on Snopes.com:

************

Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas is a fairly famous institution, and for a variety of reasons:

1. John F.Kennedy died there in 1963
2. Lee Harvey Oswald died there shortly after
3. Jack Ruby - who killed Lee Harvey Oswald, died there a few years later by coincidence.

On the flip side, Parkland is also home to the second busiest maternity ward in the country with almost 16,000 new babies arriving each year. (That's almost 44 per day---every day)

A recent patient survey indicated that 70 percent of the women who gave birth at Parkland in the first three months of 2006 were illegal immigrants... that's 11,200 anchor babies born every year just in Dallas.

(snip)

According to the article, the hospital spent $70.7 million delivering 15,938 babies in 2004 but managed to end up with almost $8 million dollars in surplus funding. Medicaid kicked in $34.5 million, Dallas County taxpayers kicked in $31.3 million and the feds tossed in another $9.5 million.

The average patient in Parkland's maternity wards is 25 years old, married and giving birth to her second child. She is also an illegal immigrant...

Of course, this doesn't address the reason WHY New York City became a sanctuary city back in 1989. No border security by the federal govt allowed in the illegals. As time progressed, and cities turned in illegals, the Fed deportation rate was so low that it basically became an exercise in futility to turn over "non-criminal" illegals, since they were typically "caught and released." Larger cities switched to policies where they turned over only illegals caught in crimes.

No border security = sanctuary cities

Border security = no sanctuary cities

I fail to see what is so adorable about illegal aliens - mostly riffraff invaders who blatantly break our laws, refuse to learn, and demand special perks not available to the rest of us.

Now those who oppose these criminals are labeled racists. An insane example involves Bob Haworth, formerly of the Brothers Four and Kingston Trio, who wrote a humorous song, "Can you get me in?" about an American wanting to go to Mexico. An English teacher in Colorado, reportedly a Scott Murphy, filed a complaint against him - and included a business card of his catering business with the complaint. Consequently, Haworth lost a gig.

Since the song is copyright I probably cannot post it. But there is nothing offensive in it. Not even an obscene word. And nothing about Asians. Yet the English teacher also accused him of racism against Asians.
