Bob Kerrey says he will not seek the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate next year.
The former governor and U.S. senator from Nebraska and 1992 presidential candidate says he made the decision not to run for the seat being vacated by Republican Chuck Hagel after discussions with his family. Kerrey says he has unfinished business at New School University in New York, where he is president.
But Kerrey says he came much closer to saying yes to a Senate run that he thought he would.
So far, no Democrats have declared their candidacy for the seat. Declared Republican candidates are former governor and U.S. Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns, state Attorney General Jon Bruning and Schuyler businessman Pat Flynn.

Ba Bye ‘Rat
Welcome to the Senate, Mike Johanns.
Speaking of the New School, wonder if Norman Hsu is still on the board, and if the school ever returned his donations?
Excellent!
Hsu is off the board.
Hillary and Schmuckie got the New School a Fed. grant of almost $1,000,000.
I guess the Hsu fit.
Good, he would have been tough to beat.
Wow. Boy, does it help to have low friends in high places...
We can all moveon, *now*?
...sheshhhhh. :o)

Also, don’t forget that Bernard Schwartz (nee Loral) is also a bigee at the NS.
Something musta’ stuck on his Hsu...

The GOP probably won’t win back the Senate next year, but heavy losses appear unlikely. Meanwhile, we have a good shot at winning back the Big House and keeping the White House.
Calling Dr. Osborne! Calling Dr. Osborne! Senate seat, stat!
Hey guys, does it strike you as interesting that a former Dem Senator does not want to run again in his home state? Call me crazy, but this may indicate that the Pubby rout advertised by MSM is not for real. Rather, it sort of says the mid-west/far-west may be good hunting grounds for Pubbies. I wonder what the polling told Bob to stay out? So NE stays red with an add of LA. We take Mary out next year, what other seats do we have to defend?
I agree. Even though he is more of a New York liberal than a Nebraskan, he has a Medal of Honor. For that reason alone, MANY Nebraskans voted for him — and would vote for him again.
HeHe..... No NEED to bring unwanted attention to the Clintons campaign... business must be flourishing at New School.
So this should be a “hold” for us, right? The Republican who seeks to replace Hagel is better than Hagel and isn’t going to lose.
