"...She called me an American (expletive), an American (expletive)...”

I infer that the woman is a foreigner, and as such will get no sympathy from me. You don't come to my country and then insult it, or my fellow Americans. Off with her head, metaphorically.

Since the new information indicates that there was no e-mail, the photo will be all we can really go on.

(Although I strongly suspect it will evidence her guilt.)

Somewhere, a group of women are lamenting her plight and justifying her actions because she was “stressed”.

From the article, the coach is 67 and has a twelve year old daughter. I am still pondering the ethnicity of the perp, Ms. Vigil? Could anti-semitism also be at play? Could this be a ‘hate crime?’ Hmmmmm......

Based on this incident, should folding chairs be banned, or at least stringently regulated?

When folding chairs are outlawed, only outlaws will have folding chairs.

I don’t know. But I think anyone who would attack a man that old should be ashamed of themselves. I would toss her child off the team. If the parent acts like that what is the child capable of doing to her team mates? I read the conflicting stories. He said..she said ... I would like to know what the real story is. I highly doubt she was afraid of him & she keyed the van....Shaking my head again.~P~

Well at 67, with a 12 year old daughter, he probably is in pretty good shape (all the running from coaching the team). Who knows, 67 could be the new 50? I tend to think this woman is a true loon...keying a mini-van? Now an SUV could be explained away...but a poor defenseless Caravan? LOL...

"A Long Island woman has been charged with hitting her daughter’s soccer coach with a folding chair because he gave her bad directions to a game, the police said yesterday."

Long Island, huh.
The soccer coach is lucky.

...shooting's the *preferred* method.

Thats funny.

But you know by behaving as she did I wouldn't be surprised if her child is a bully. After raising 5 now adult children & now my 8 yr daughter I've found that many parents of bullies are bullies themselves. I would have to deal with parents who refused to EVER admit their child could be wrong. I have 4 sons who weren't angels by any means but they were not allowed to get away with being mean or bullies. I didn't care if they fought back after being hit . I believe in the right to defend yourself. However I taught my children to walk away from verbal fights. Seems this mother needs an anger management class IMO. ~P~

Interesting comment. Jews are few there, but I do know a Jewish family there who did indeed experience significant antisemitism during high school.

When I was a kid on Long Island, East Rockaway was a lower middle class type of place where women still wore housecoats and "tawked like dis", and a large number of the men had red noses.

I can just imagine the type of person Ms. Vigil is.

I agree, pandora, that that little soccer playing acorn didn't fall too far from the tree. FWIW, having kids (oldest two played thru college and are now done) that play on team sports, the nuttiest parents we have ever encountered are the soccer moms (and dads). My theory, as really no one from our generation grew up playing soccer. Therefore, everyone on the sidelines is an expert.

Anyone find a photo of Ms. Vigil? I'd love to see this gal's mug(shot).

Curious times we live in, when we think along those lines. I was just wondering...

‘Alicia Vigil’

Amazing how many hits you get via google with that name.

Housecoats...I remember ‘dem. Sometimes also called a ‘duster’ and usually had some kind of matching (sortof) babushka (tied in the front of the head) to cover big, pink curlers. Also, there was usually a swanky leather cig case in one of those large pockets (and it had a lighter space too). Ahh...the sixties.

YES!! I remember all of those things too. Right now those swanky cig cases are selling big in the flea markets too. I wish I had half of the stuff my mom & grandmother had. I would make a killing. Remember the chrome dinettes & the chairs would pinch your legs once the vinyl cracked? They are now considered retro.

I've seen them (the ciggy cases) at flea markets too...and i know how to spot the 'authentic' ones. The old time ones have a flat pocket on the front (to slide a zippo type lighter in). The 'wannabees' have a slot on the side (for those new, fangled bics). Lol...

Like they say 'everything old is new again' (and for sale on eBay!)
