'Lions' star roars at Rome (Robert Redford US-bashing barf alert)
Variety ^ | 10/23/07 | Nick Vivarelli

Posted on 10/24/2007 4:22:41 AM PDT by redstates4ever

"Tom Cruise underplayed the politics, leaving it to Robert Redford to lash out against the U.S. wars in Afghanistan and Iraq at the center of "Lions for Lambs," for which the pair held their first presser Tuesday at the Rome Film Festival.

(snip)

"Our country has hit a point where we have lost so much," he said. "We have lost lives, we've lost sacred freedoms, we've lost financial stability; we've lost our position of respect on the world stage."(said Redford)

Cruise, kept largely above the political fray, merely expressing hope that the talky multi-strand pic in which he plays a power-hungry Republican senator "will challenge and engage an audience, so that they can come out and have dialogue."

Another anti-US film from elderly Lefties...how boringly predictable. Why anyone would support another America-bashing
Follywood flick is a mystery to me.
Particularly galling is the fact that Redford does his trash-talking on foreign soil.
America has been way too good to these Leftist “artists.” Where else could such an uneducated bunch be paid millions for their suspect “talent”?

Mr. and Mrs. George R. Cruise of Cumberland, R.I., have announced the engagement of their son Thomas LaPorte Cruise to Roger W. Redford Jr., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Redford of Washington. The wedding is planned for Massachusetts in May.

I suspect the effects of too much sun at high altitudes...and too much frowning at traditional American values.

Yesterday, I listened to George Carlin on a radio interview. He was railing about how anything commercial isn’t worth bull spit, everyone has sold out to commercial interests, etc. The USA is an exploitive, destructive country, blah blah blah.

If you want to buy his 12DVD set, he’s signing at Borders on 57th and 6th and he’ll be doing a date at....blah blah blah...What a hypocrite. He’s hypocrisy incarnate.

Redford: In the remake, you'll play Sundance because you certainly can't be "Butch".

Political ignoramuses making powerful movies is akin to babies with loaded shotguns.

"how boringly predictable"

I couldn't have said it any better. When I saw the TV commercial for it and saw the 'satrs' in it, I knew immediately that it would be anti-US. *yawn*

I saw the trailer for this movie in the theater (there for Bourne Ultimatum). It comes off as a comedy. So anti-American it’s sad. The crap that is coming out of Hollywood these days is reaching an unprecedent level.

Whatever happened to the WWII movies staring John Wayne?? Will there ever be a pro-military movie made again?
