Senate Now Debating Southwick Nomination on C-Span 2 (Vanity)

Posted on 10/23/2007 5:45:28 PM PDT by MittFan08

Dianne Feinstein just said she will vote for cloture and in favor of his nomination- looks like she has withstood the liberal barrage against him. This bodes very well for his confirmation.

It’s always a good day when a Conservative makes it to the federal judiciary. Maybe Senator Feinstein realizes that their obstruction of judicial nominees makes them look very bad.

I have to say, Feinstein’s stock has gone way up in my book- she’s giving a very heartfelt speech in his favor.

If she just hadn’t directed money to her husband’s company and then switched to the Ethics Committee so she wouldn’t be brought up on ethics charges, why then maybe I’d support her........NOT! Yes, she did ok here but she is through and through a Liberal Dem.

60 votes are needed for cloture for an up and down vote.

Thank You. I know that. Did anything in my earlier post suggest I thought otherwise? Senator Feinstein's decision is probably a sign of what other Senate Liberals will do. Otherwise, she would be putting her neck on the block for nothing.

But how can this be? Isn’t Southwick a Mississippian? Everybody knows they are knuckle dragging neanderthal brutes.

Don’t count on it. There was probably a deal made. We’ll get skewered somehow. It’s her favorite thing to do.

That’s good, but he shouldn’t have to face a cloture vote at all. There’s no reason for the majority to force a losing cloture vote, it just shows they can’t be adults. All they need is a simple unanimous consent to a time for debate. Cloture indicates a failure of leadership.

Of course, Reid embodies that, plus he’s trying to go for the record of most cloture votes in one year.

Great news, thanks. I assume the 62 votes were for cloture, but there’s no doubt he will have the 50 votes for confirmation.
