That basically means all public traffic is blocked from entering or traveling through the base area via the 5. Camp Pendleton is now off limits to civilians. The land to the west of the 5 freeway is narrow. They should be able to put up a good fight and stop the fire from getting into San Onofre from the South. There are a couple of small Barrack cities up in the north that they will also probably be trying to save. There are lighting backfires as a last resort.
I’m trying to maneuver my way through the California State website and find more info on the Pendleton fires. Sounds hopeful with the ocean helping out and all. It should make for a nice barrier.
Just read that the Gubermint has announced they are sending 19 military helicopters to help fight the fires early Wednesday morning. Would have loved to have had those...YESTERDAY!!!
