Embattled Democrat Pete Stark has just publicly apologized to "the president and his family."
He took the floor after his fellow Democrats successfully killed a motion to censure him in the wake of his remarks last Thursday asserting that American troops were fighting in Iraq to have their "heads blown off for the president's amusement."
"I want to apologize to my colleagues, many of whom I have offended," Stark began. He then apologized to "the president and his family" and "the troops."
"I hope that with this apology, I return to being as insignificant as I should be," he concluded though a voice cracking with emotion.

Stark’s apology should have ended with... “I am therefore resigning effective immediately ...”

The 5 Democrat (freshmen) congressmen who voted on the same side as the GOP on the censure vote were from districts who went with Bush in the 2004 election.

I wonder what makes folks think that. I see what happens at DU as a subset of FR, but they are certainly not FR. Every once in while a FR thread will denegrate into a DU-like land, but for the most part this is a very different site.
That said, it is interesting to keep an eye on that site. They live in a sad world...
No fooling. Their brains are apparently permanently addled from the drugs they ingested during their hippie years in the 1960's and 1970's. Or... if they are the offspring of those hippies, they've all been "carefully taught to hate" (as per the song from Rodgers and Hammerstein's "South Pacific"). And I'm serious about that. Can you imagine having grown up as the flower child of 2 certifiably nutso flower children parents?
It's filled with invective - primarily the F-word.... which would fall under "porn" in firewalls, etc.
And why does he "have" to run for re-election? I'd encourage him to resign and get the hell out of the way now, especially since he hopes to return to being "insignificant"!!!!!!!!
