Democrat Pete STARK APOLOGIZES to PRESIDENT and TROOPS
MSNBC ^ | Oct 23, 2007 | Mike Viqueira

Posted on 10/23/2007 9:03:19 AM PDT by rface

Embattled Democrat Pete Stark has just publicly apologized to "the president and his family."

He took the floor after his fellow Democrats successfully killed a motion to censure him in the wake of his remarks last Thursday asserting that American troops were fighting in Iraq to have their "heads blown off for the president's amusement."

"I want to apologize to my colleagues, many of whom I have offended," Stark began. He then apologized to "the president and his family" and "the troops."

"I hope that with this apology, I return to being as insignificant as I should be," he concluded though a voice cracking with emotion.

as to speculation on Starks’ sobs after his ‘apology’, my guess would be that a military family member called him to remind him that his pie hole was open again....or perhaps a phone call from a MOH awardee’s parent....etc.

My very first thought when I heard the soundbite was “man, he’s Kennedy drunk.” He sounded absolutely wasted.

I don’t think he’s quite all there...or at least, not 100% stable. He’s said and done some pretty weird stuff before. Of course, that just means that he fits in with his home district quite well.

DONE! Poor Fred! He gets picked on all the time, and now this. I bet The Love Boat is beginning to look pretty good in hindsight!

Thanks for posting that. I did not realize how close the vote was. They missed getting censure by 29 votes while 32 republicans did not vote? WOW!

No wonder he was so apologetic. If those 32 republicans had voted (and the 23 democrats didn’t), he could have been censured.

I lost 3 uncles in the Bataan Death March

Never owned a Japanese auto because of that one - - I'm still pissed.

He’ll try to find a loophole, I’m sure.

Or Mrs. Fred will call in and beg them not to do it like she did with the 2006 election bet.

Meaningless, empty words. If he were really sorry, he’d have announced his resignation. What a phony.

Drinking Coffee

Well let's think about this for a moment.  One of two scenarios must be true.

If the first instance is true, then anyone that disagrees with his apology is by self-admission neither correct nor moral.

If the second  is true, the people that disagree are in direct conflict with the leadership of the Democratic party and should immediately start recall processes on said leadership.

No doubt his original statement has been broadcast countless times on Al-Jazeera. They’ll of course ignore his apology.

You're right! Al-Jazeera will add to or take away from the facts, < before > they broadcast it. When one of the RATS says something like what Stark did, the Koranimals use it to justify killing more of our troops! IMO, Stark should be hanged as a traitor!

I listened to his first statement and his apology - he sounds like he’s suffering from dementia, sad.

"I hope that with this apology, I return to being as insignificant as I should be," he concluded though a voice cracking with emotion.

I think someone close to him reminded him what the word "humility" means.

And that's a good thing for all of us.
