Conservative icon Phyllis Schlafly is expressing strong dissatisfaction with the top-tier Republican presidential candidates. She also questions the validity of the results of the Values Voters straw poll on Saturday.
Eagle Forum founder Phyllis Schlafly says most of the GOP candidates who have been designated frontrunners are globalists. According to Schlafly, candidates Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson, John McCain, and Mike Huckabee all "need to wake up" and realize they need the votes of Reagan Democrats to win.
"I think that's a great mistake for the Republicans. I feel that it's very important that they reach out to people on the jobs issue," Schlafly shares. "I was quite disappointed with the debate that was broadcast from Michigan, which is an economically depressed state, and they didn't appear to have any sympathy or compassion for all the millions of people who've lost their jobs that have moved to China."
In the straw poll taken over the weekend in conjunction with the Values Voters Summit, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney topped former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee by a mere 30 votes. Schlafly contends that Huckabee was the winner among conference attendees who heard the weekend's speeches.
"The straw poll was interesting," she offers. "People were able to vote on it even though they weren't here. They could vote for the prior two weeks before the conference took place and before they heard any of the speakers." And in her opinion, that means one cannot say a whole lot about the validity of the poll.
Schlafly believes all that can be deduced from the poll is that so-called "values voters" are still shopping for their candidate. And she says while social conservatives are divided in many ways, they all agree they cannot support a candidate who is not pro-life. The Eagle Forum founder tells OneNewsNow the only GOP hopefuls she is comfortable with are Congressmen Duncan Hunter of California and Tom Tancredo of Colorado.
Our goal should be truly free trade. An eye for an eye. Like Duncan said, a “mirror” trade policy.
I do believe she will endorse Hunter, at least I hope so. What other choice does she have? We’re all in the same boat.

The Perfect is the enemy of the Good - Voltaire
Voltaire was wrong. It is "good 'nuff" that is the enemy of the good.
They have in the past, but I don’t think they have endorsed any GOPer yet. Want to guess who it will be though?
You are rock solid, nicmarlo!
She brings up a REALLY good point.... Reagan Democrats... How the HELL would Duncan Hunter appeal to ANY dems if he gets nominated... You DH supporters are absolutely nuts.
Because he wants to eliminate the stupid trade deals we have, completely zero out taxes on manufacturers who build their factories here, and stop mexican trucks from invading our roads.
indeed,
many seem to be helping hillary.
it’s like lemmings dropping off into the sea.
On immigration alone, if nothing else.
Who should have the coronation in this primary then?
In addition to post 87
Go for it.
Its not isolationist to say that America needs to negotiate trade deals which are good for all American’s and not just big business. There are many people in America who do not have the training or aptitude for high tech jobs and we should do our best to try and protect those Americans just as much as we protect Wall St. Besides its not just manufacturing jobs that are being shipped overseas. Companies like General Electric are starting to ship many of their Engineering, software, and tech support jobs oversees. Unless we act to protect American Jobs we will soon find ourselves sitting with a massive debt and little else.
Duncan Hunter is frankly, the (only) candidate in either party in America today, who can and will win the enthusiastic and very well-funded support of “Reagan Democrats”.
They are what sent President Reagan to a landslide.
They are patriotic SOB’s. They love America. They don’t like gays. They hunt. They belong to the NRA. And they go to NASCAR.
There are millions of them. And they VOTE.
They’ll vote for Duncan Hunter. I’m serious.
I grew up with people like that. I understand them.
Heck, I am one of them.
Duncan Hunter can be a not only a winning candidate — he’ll be a truly great President.
Seriously.
We elected Jindal as our Governor. I have plenty of faith.
Yes, she would want them to be isolationists! Her views have bothered me for some time now.
As for the pro-globalists, faux conservatives, however, I say this:
If it’s a conservative she wants-a real one-she’ll endorse Hunter.
Trust me Republican’s like you with a snotty/superior/sarcastic attitude about our values will succede in driving social conservatives out of the party. Then when we have left you can be content with having captured the ruined remains of the Republican Party. I hope you like losing while we move on to create a new party which combines social conservatives and Reagan democrats.
When pushed into a corner unleash foreign language quotations to make the opposition feel ignorant.
Way to get conservatives on your side. NOT. We share knowledge and actually value the truth over myths. Are you a plant for Hilary or Rudy or just an agent from the Dem Party doing what you see as your duty? Should I place bets on your survival on this forum based on your posts here or should I owe you an apology? My moneys on you drying up and blowing away.
