There’s lots of good shows on, though most are on cable.

Burn Notice is excellent, The Shield is fantastic, Rescue Me is a hilarious satire, Mad Men is good, Monk is GREAT, Damages is good, except Glenn Close reminds me of Hitliary.

The Dead Zone, The 4400, and especially My Boys are all really good, and Tony Bourdain’s No Reservations is outstanding.

On the networks, The Office is great and My Name is Earl is pretty funny. House has lost its interest for me since they got rid of House’s team because they wanted a pay raise, and the new candidates are dull and boring.

Ugly Betty is trashy but I still enjoy watching it, Prison Break is mildy enjoyable, although it’s getting far-fetched, and the Discovery Channel has Mythbusters, Ice Road Truckers, and Deadliest Catch, all of which are very good.

It may seem like I watch a lot of TV, by the way, but I Tivo everything, fast-forward through the commercials and wait for a boring, rainy Sunday when nothing’s going on, to watch them all!

You must have lots of boring rainy Sundays!

Dangerous Catch and Ice Road are worth about 30min one time.
Mythbusters is poor. I loved the Bull in a China Shop demo.

The only Dead Zone is btw/ A M Hall’s ears.

Have you ever wondered why shows like 24 or PBreak only film
6-8 eps per season? It wouldn’t have anything to do w/ theme/plot
burnout now would it?

Anything on FOX SUX out loud.

By the way, one show that seem to have a MAJOR disconnect between professional TV critics and the actual viewing audience is NBC's 30 Rock.

I think it comes down to this: professional TV critics tend to know very well how TV shows are produced, so they understand clearly the self-referential humor of the show, which was created by Tina Fey (a former cast member on NBC's Saturday Night Live). Problem is, most of the TV viewing audience have no idea how TV shows are produced, so they don't understand the premise of the show; that's why 30 Rock has such poor ratings.
