North Korean dictator KIM JONG IL greets the visiting Nong Duch Manh, leader of the Vietnam Communist Party at the international airport in Pyongyang (video clip). Video includes full arrival honors (21 gun salute, review of North Korean KPA "Honor" Guard Troops, national anthems), and most importantly, close-up views of Kim Jong-il, standing as well as walking in review of his troups.
This video was taken about one week ago, on 16 October 2007.
It can be found at the URL link above. One should have windows media player.

Folks, put up with the 20 second intro first of a rather emotional news anchorman on Pyongyang TV.
Also, after about two minutes into the clip, they get into the review of the troops and salute from the sword-wielding KPA officer in charge, which is rather interest.

I think--although I may be wrong-- that the so-called "Pyongyang Patty" (the female Pyongyang TV newscaster, the version of an emotional Catie Couric, a kind of North Korean "Baghdad Bob") may have been "let go" due to ratings.
And in the DPRK, that has GOT to be a bad thing.
I hope she has on six layers of clothing, at least, for those cold Chinese border winters.

The one funny thing about the video was a Vietnamese woman in a black and red flowing
ao dai national costume, [probably a Vietnamese Embassy employee stationed in North Korea], trying to give a flower bouquet directly to Kim Jong-il on the red carpet. He gestured like four or five times for her to give it not to HIM but to the Vietnamese leader next to him, but she refused and gave it to Chia Pet anyway, bowed, and shook his hand. A direct disobey.
Gee, I do wonder if she was shot or raped later for intransigence right on national TV.

He looks perfectly healthy and alert.
Too bad that fellow with the sword didn’t take advantage of the moment.
