I know it’s not your neighborhood, but the folks at Qualcomm are begging for volunteers (to provide medical assistance, serve breakfast, anything.) The Santiago/Foothill evacuation centers might be able to use the some help, too.
Good news—Bush apparently got the Emergency declaration done and there are 6 big air-tankers on their way today.

Stay safe!
Has anyone discussed the possibilty of arson/terrorism?
One of the fires was believed to be arson (Santiago/Foothill, I believe). The Malibu fire was believed to be caused by a downed power line. I think the others were considered to be caused by nature. With these winds, it doesn’t take much to spread. We’ve got 90 degree weather, 30-60MPH winds, and less than 10% humidity. It’s just an awful combination.
They are also referring to this as the Meadowridge fire. It is west of the 14, east of the 5, and north just north of the 126. It is threatening a bunch more homes.
New fire at Meadow Ridge- San Fernando Rd per kcal tv
We must have both been listening to the same report!
NBC?
I’ve been flipping around a lot as they tend to repeat the same stuff over and over.
The good news is today we will have six C-130s dumping water! YAY!
City of San Diego just issued a voluntary evacuation from the border north to Main St, Chula Vista from Alta rd on the east to 805 on the west a huge area....
another large evactuation now for areas just SE of SD (harris fire)
local NBC news just said 450,000 or so evacuated in SD county
Not NBC- CBS- but I just lost the feed- not reopening now
Happy Now !!!!!!!!
After 48 hours of this event I am concerned that fire fighting resources are stretched to the limit.
I am seeing a lot of “tactical” victories by the brave fire fighters but am concerned about a strategic defeat if the road, power or communications grid is severed.
At least 24 hours more of extreme fire weather await SoCal.
God Bless and God Speed all those affected!
New fire - 210 at I-15, Rancho Cucumunga - 210 East bound closed at Day Creek Road - fire north of the freeway at or about Victoria Ave, west of I-15; this one has been going for an hour or two.
