Yes... a lot of small "c" Republicans have abandoned the GOP because its perceived to be not very different from the Democrats. Spending, taxes and corruption.

The solution? IMO, the Gelding Old Party must get a testicle and spine implant, return to its conservative roots and encourage conservatives who are registered Independents, registered conservative Pro-Life Democrats and former conservative Republicans who have departed to come together in the GOP so that conservatives can take back the party, the Congress, the WH & our country! And let the “legalizing of illegal drugs” Libertarians stick to their own party & beliefs.

The small c Republicans should by now realize their erroneous reasoning. The rats have shown their true colors. The rinos were the source of many problems for the Republican majority. Here are the rat stripes:

- Taxes: the sky is the limit
- Entitlements: the sky is the limit
- Environment: all hail to GW
- Corruption: what corruption?
- Spending: what entitlement problem? what war?
- Labor: unions R Us
- Energy: we are the energy czars
- Government employment: more tribute for the ruling class
- Judges: what constitution?

Libertarians aren’t Libertarians anymore. They are Libertines. They want to do what ever they want when ever they want to whom ever they want with NO responsibility to society at large.

Reagan understood, Liberty requires responsibility not just self absorption.

That's no doubt true, however, should libertarians actually ever elect someone to office (play along w/ me) that person would be every bit as likely to fall into the same trap the the elected conservatives do.

Just like Tolkien's ring of power, the desire to do good is quickly corrupted by the ability to do whatever you please. The power of the position is self perpetuating, very few have the character NOT to do GREAT things.

This is why I believe only term limits can prevent our slide to socialism.
