Oh for the days when who knows how many B-52’s fully loaded with bombs were headed to the Soviet Union to drop them until they were told, “Never mind, come on back” and as they were returning another group were taking off to take their place, 24/7,365. “Sky King, Sky King. This is Hickum, this is Hickum. Do not answer, do not answer. Break, Break”. Those were the days.

“Sky King, Sky King. This is Hickum, this is Hickum. Do not answer, do not answer. Break, Break”.

How about this one: “For Alert Force, For Alert Force, KLAXON, KLAXON KLAXON...Message follows.”

You have this backward. They had to return to their bases unless they got the go code. The radio call "Sky King, Ski King, this is Sky Bird Control with a Noah's Ark message..." had to be authenticated and decoded separately by three officers aboard the aircraft, and they all had to confirm that it was an authentic go code. That was part of the "Fail Safe" policy.
