(The Politico) News flash: Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) just praised Rush Limbaugh on the Senate floor.
Yup, the same Reid who lashed out at the radio show host earlier this month and rounded up 40 Democratic senators to sign a letter to Clear Channel boss Mark May, urging him to repudiate Limbaugh's "phony soldiers" comment, which was interpreted by some as an attack on soldiers who oppose the Iraq war.
But oh, how the storyline has changed. Limbaugh put the letter up for auction on Ebay, and it is now fetching more than $2 million. The proceeds will benefit Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation, which provides scholarship assistance to Marines and federal law enforcement personnel whose parents fall in the line of duty.
"What could be a more worthwhile cause?" Reid asked today on the floor. "I think it's really good that this money on Ebay is going to be raised for this purpose. When I spoke to Mark May, he and I thought this probably wouldn't make much money, a letter written by Democratic senators complaining about something."
Interesting tidbit from Politico colleague Ben Smith: The original letter was apparently written by a staffer on a Blackberry in a U Street bar!
"Never did we think that this letter would bring money of this nature," Reid said. "Everyone knows that Rush Limbaugh and I don't agree on everything in life and maybe that is kind of an understatement. But without qualification, Mark May, the owner of the network that has Rush Limbaugh, and Rush Limbaugh should know that this letter that they're auctioning is going to be something that raises money for a worthwhile cause."
"Think of this, more than $2 million that will really help," Reid said.
The auction ends in 13 minutes.
YOU FORGOT THE BARF ALERT!!!
; )
ROTFL. Dingy Harry is trippin’ again.
Reid trying to save face, and Limbaugh ridiculed him for it : )

And by “some,” we mean leftist idiots.
Yeah, the headline is misleading. Reid is a opportunistic little worm who’s trying to save face in this embarrassing (to him) little episode.
Rush said, the last name was ‘Mays’. So, even CBS news is mispronouncing the name.
Good post though. Thanks.
maybe Rush should take these MSM fantasy articles and put them on the auction block too? We can start with this jewel from the Rathernetwork. LOL
Harry Reid.
Just saying the name makes me chuckle a little bit now.
Just another “Phony Senator”.
Whoa, this isn’t Scrappleface?
These Democrat socialists are so used to using OTHER peoples' money to show their "charity," they probably don't even know how to make a private donation (remember AlGore's pitifully small charitable contributions when he was VP). Especially a donation to "our troops" (whom they really despise).
This jujitsu move by Rush is just brilliant on so many levels.
If ANYTHING !!
I would be somewhat impressed if the not so fab 40 would issue a public letter of apology and donate another 2 million to this very worthy cause....
Really? That’s funny. It makes me throw up a little bit in my mouth.
Once Harry figured that the country was actually on Rush’s side with this he did a Retreat...
Only thing Democrats are good for is Retreat...
What a crock! This idiot didn’t get the name right either. Libs...Idiots, every one.
(sarcasm off)
Not only is that little buttwart trying to save face, he’s also trying to horn in and get some of the credit! I despise that worm! Did you hear him speak? He sounds like a used-car salesman. That’s the same kinda voice an old friend used to use to try and talk some girl into “givin’ it up!”
