Paris Under Siege from Cross-Channel Invasion as England Rugby Fans Descend on French Capital
The Daily Mail ^ | October 19, 2007

Paris was the target of a cross-Channel invasion today ahead of tomorrow's rugby World Cup Final.

Thousands of England fans have already arrived in the French capital but tens of thousands more are expected to follow throughout today and tomorrow.

Fans defied national train strikes and a scarcity of match tickets, which were changing hands for more than £2,000.

At Gare du Nord today an army of supporters, some draped in England flags, filled the concourse with their cheers ringing out across the station.

They had risen before dawn to ensure they beat strike action by French public transport workers, which crippled the local rail network.

It’s a bouncy piece of rubber chased after on a grassy field. Why do the English need to turn every big away sporting event into an “invasion” mentality? Then when they lose they whine about it like big babies. Some invasion.

Ruggy is a houligan’s game played by gentlemen whereas soccer is a gentlemen’s played by houligans.

‘It’s a bouncy piece of rubber chased after on a grassy field.’

No it’s not, it’s a bouncy bit of leather.

‘Why do the English need to turn every big away sporting event into an “invasion” mentality?’

You mean why do the Daily Mail turn it into an invasion? Well I guess an orderly parade sells less papers than an invasion does.

‘Then when they lose they whine about it like big babies.’

We are the current world champions. If you want to see whining when you lose read some Australian newspapers from last week when we sent them home. Talk about sour grapes. . . .

‘A big weekend for our British friends.’

Well, the English anyway. There won’t be many Scots or Welsh cheering on England as they massacre South Africa to the strains of ‘Swing low sweet chariot. . . .’ :)

What will be ironic - the muslim off France will behave themselves this weekend...they don’t want to get in a scrum with these English fans...

Someone should post up posters offer a 1 Pint bounty for each rioting “Youth” they deal with.

Ok, I admit it, rough day at work and felt a bit evil...

Not true, Prime Minister Brown said he backed the English team all the way (once the Scottish team was out). So there is at least one Scot cheering for England. :)

Well, the French aren’t playing, they are the host country. South Africa (favorite of my Ace, who flies in Africa) is the other team.
