Just a sampling of storm reports and likely to get worse. Looks like it may be a historic outbreak. Again, the stuff comes in all caps, just the way the NWS works.

Mods seem to have made it pretty clear they're fairly allergic to weather stuff in breaking so I didn't bother, though I think this belongs there. May be a lot of people in threatened areas unaware of this outbreak even taking place.

It just under 2 years ago that Hopkinsville, KY and Marshall County KY got hit with an F4 tornado. Prayers up for all in the path of these storms.

I’m in my basement right now with my family in Southwest Michigan. No storms yet but the lightning is incredible on the horizon. The alert sirens have gone off here.

It has been an interesting evening here in SW Indiana. No storms, but a pretty neat lightning show all around us. The storms have been mostly in Ky. with damage in Sebree, West Louisville(near Owensboro), Ky. and these areas. Some damage now reported in Owensboro, Ky area and possibly downtown Owensboro. Local weather reports just put out a new tornado warning for near Hopkinsville, Ky.

The local wx guys are getting ready to give it up. Most of the storms are now moving into Eastern Indiana and Central Kentucky.

Just had a report of a tornado on the ground in Marcellus, MI about 15 miles from me, still no real action yet here though.

Thanks for posting. I'd been checking a few radar sites off and on all evening but was unaware of the severity until your post.

Hope the Appalachians take out some of the punch of this storm system or else I'm under the gun tomorrow.

In case you all haven’t seen this yet:
http://www.wunderground.com/tornado/?show=recent

It’s a little wonky still and takes some fidgeting to get things centered correctly (if you are zoomed out too far at first it shows all the current tornado reports in Southern Indiana, instead of Western KY), but it does seem to give a fairly accurate view of current events.

There are now tornado warnings from Mississippi to Michigan - I’m having trouble even remotely watching all the radars or keeping track of them.

Apparently the Budget Inn in Owensboro KY was very badly hit.

My sister and her family live in Battle Creek, so I’m watching too. I live between Jackson and Chelsea — nothing but a lot of wind so far, but there’s lots of lightning off to the west. We’re under a tornado watch until ...

Oh crap. Tornado warning now for NW Jackson County and the surrounding area.

It’s going to be a long night.

Gulp . . . fortunately they’re not in that path of that tornado. Let’s hope there aren’t more.

No ground truth reports yet but there’s a warning and certainly looks from radar there may be a tornado heading right for Michigan State University.

Do you know if they expect the box move to the east at all? We are just a bit outside the box in Ohio.

Western Ohio is included in the risk area for strong tornadoes through 8AM tomorrow.

Going to be a bit before storms arrive there though.
