Congressman Pete Sessions(R-Tex.) has been the most vocal and prominent pro-life advocate of Rudy Giulianis presidential candidacy. I interviewed him on the eve of Giulianis appearance before the Family Research Councils Voters Value Forum this weekend, perhaps the most important moment for Giuliani to address concerns of pro-life voters and stem a move to a possible third party candidate. He talked at length about his relationship with Giuliani and Giulianis views, which he contends are not fully known to conservatives.
I asked him how he came to support Giuliani given Rep. Sessions longtime pro-life views. He replied that I am a friend of the Mayor. Ive spent a great deal of personal time talking to him. He continued that based on their discussions he thinks the pro-life label for Giuliani does not capture how Giuliani would make decisions. He contends that as you dissect how he would have voted if Giuliani were a member of Congress, Sessions concludes that Giuliani would have voted exactly as I did on issues which come before Congress. He points to the partial birth abortion ban, taxpayer funding for abortions, parental notification, penalties for those who take minors across state lines for an abortion and foreign funding for groups which offer abortion services( the Mexico City accord). Sessions says that Giuliani unequivocally states that he would vote as Sessions and pro-life legislators do on these matters. I pressed Sessions on whether even in the face of legislation on these issues he believed Giuliani would veto legislation from a Democratic Congress to, for example, repeal the Hyde Amendment. Session answered without hesitation: Yes, I do.

I wonder if Sessions suffers from HDS.
Extremely disappointed in Sessions’ shilling for a “friend.” Friendship does not excuse the wholsale government approved slaughter of millions of innocent and helpless babes in the womb.
Rudy will not get my vote for anything. I have to wonder about so called conservatives who support him.
Cong. Pete Sessions of Texas has very high ACU ratings. Last year was 100.0 and lifetime is 97.8 with ten years in Congress. Few are higher.

For a second I fretted and thought it was my senator Jeff Sessions. :O
This Sessions must be one of those “Masters of the Universe”.
Shame he would throw himself on the sword for a well known pro abortion liberal. I guess these gubmint critters are all for sale to the highest bidder.
Typical back-slapping, smoky room, hand-job Republican Party politics here.
Why do people keep trying to paint us as one issue voters? There is a whole dirty laundry list of reasons I won’t vote for rudi. I’m seeing Sessions in a whole new light if he can overlook such blatant liberalism.
Alright, that does it. God love you JimRob, but it's that sort of nasty intransigence that's one of our biggest self-destructive tendencies these days.
My "gut" has been pulling me towards Giuliani for quite some time, but the kind of invective I've seen hurled around here towards a guy that has never, to my knowledge gone, out of his way to put a thumb in the eye of conservatives, has finally broken my back.
I'm a classic broken glass Republican and all I want to is to be sure that wretched ice queen never moves back into the Lincoln bedroom. And I'm sorry, Thompson is looking tired, uninspiring, and generally a shell of what he promised a few months ago. At least Rudy is a knee-to-the groin fighter with all the right enemies. He pledges sound Supreme Court nominees, and that is the end game of all the posturing on abortion anyway. Talk and 11th hour conversions are cheap and the Human Life Amendment is a pipe dream, folks. You want fewer abortions and the end of Roe, the High Court is the only way, not squabbling over federal funding.
I'm off the fence. Go Rudy!
One thing I have noticed. Hillary must have a testicle lockbox, these men are so afraid of her they consider “tough” a liberal cross dresser sporting a blonde wig and dancing like a showgirl.
Truly sorry. Must be the chickification of the American male. Hillary is a sick, marxist harridan, the whole basis to give up what a person believes in out of fear amazes me.
You never get what you want by giving in. There are people out there that really need us to stand up. There are a host of issues, including abortion to stand up for.
One issue voters are the sick little picnic weenies afraid of an old woman.
I agree it is repulsive.
You’re not only off the fence, you’re off FR.
Buh bye, lib. We hardly knew ye.
That fence is electrified there fella...ZOT!!!
With all due respect to Mr. Sessions, this is freakin' bizarre and comical. Why would anyone believe that Giuliani "unequivocally states" something to Sessions when Giuliani himself has refused to even "half-@ssed state" the same thing on the record in public?
How f#%&ing stupid must he think we are?
Hopefully, conservatives will show Sessions his walking papers come 2008.
so if he is the nominee you won’t vote at all? Or vote for the Democrat?
I like Sessions, and am also dissapointed.
