IMHO, this is totally outrageous.

The proposal, from the Portland Division of Public Health, calls for the independently operated health care center at King Middle School to provide a variety of services to students, including immunizations and physical checkups in addition to birth-control medications and counseling for sexually transmitted diseases, said Lisa Belanger, an administrator for Portlands student health centers...Notice what else is included in this fiasco.
Can anyone say Gardasil?
Or any other vaccine they want to test drive on duped participants?

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. If you want on/off this list, please freepmail me. The main Homeschool Ping List by DaveLoneRanger handles the homeschool-specific articles. This is becoming a fairly high volume list. I know I've pinged you to other threads on this topic, but there's a list of links to all the other threads in this thread so I thought I'd do one more ping.

I agree this is just incredibly stupid, but from what I’ve read, parents must first allow their kids to use the health clinic. You don’t want your kids to have access (which I wouldn’t), don’t give permission.

I take exception to the title of your article.
Birth control is not being ALLOWED in this Maine school. It is being INSTITUTIONALIZED and ENSHRINED at the school.
I believe there is a scripture verse in the KJV that describes unregenerate man as: “sinning with both hands, dilligently.” I recently moved and cannot lay my hands on my Strong’s Concordance, so maybe someone could look it up and see if I am right about that scripture.
At any rate, this is what these godless liberal school administrators remind me of........not content to wallow in sin all by themselves; they feel compelled to go out and recruit 11 year old children to get in the mire and wallow with them!
