Feds Recommend Closing Saudi School in Va.

McLEAN, Va. -- A private Islamic school supported by the Saudi government should be shut down until the U.S. government can ensure the school is not fostering radical Islam, a federal panel recommends.

In a report released Thursday, the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom broadly criticized what it calls a lack of religious freedom in Saudi society and promotion of religious extremism at Saudi schools.

Several advocacy groups in recent years have cited examples of inflammatory statements in religious textbooks in Saudi Arabia, including claims that a ninth-grade textbook reads that the hour of judgment will not come "until the Muslims fight the Jews and kill them."

even hitlery isn’t that strong....this is America, not a roll over one more time.....people.

True. And if you want to keep it America, you can't give the Feds vetting authority over private school curricula.

God knows I'm no fan of Islam, but allowing the government to shut down a school because we don't like what they're teaching is to hand that government a weapon that will be used against us down the road.

If you want to shut them down, shut them down for a real crime under existing law. If they're as bad as we think, such crimes will already have been committed, crimes like conspiracy to commit murder and so forth. If such crimes have not been committed, they don't deserve to be shut down.

Islamic Saudi Academy was founded in 1984 as a bilingual English-Arabic school with a dual American and Middle Eastern curriculum... Since its establishment, the Islamic Saudi Academy has viewed its relationship with the community and culture as vital to the mission of the school. ISA not only promotes respect and mutual understanding between Muslims and non-Muslims, Arabs and Americans while keeping within the Muslim faith, it strives for its staff and students to uphold tolerance, honesty, integrity and compassion, qualities that represent the best of both American and Arabic cultures.

You are just as much of an extremist as the people you criticize No I am a realist. When Christians and Jews start up with the same crap as muslims....then you may call me an extremist.....but as this time I do not desire to be a diplomat.

instead we hand the weapon to muslims to be used against us down the road by allowing the muslims to dictate their terms....foolishness to the n-th degree. A killer always looks for an opening....we are handing over to the muslims all they need to kill us without placing the muslims in check....foolishness to the n-th degree. When we place the muslims in check....Americans live for another day.

It’s my position that our own integrity, as well as our long-term best interest, mandates that the government keep its hands off the school.

No I am a realist

If you believe that is realistic for the United States to close down all of the mosques in this country and prohibit the practice of Islam in the US until Christians and Jews are granted the same right in their countries, you are living in a parallel universe.

I don't understand this statement. Muslims in this country are bound by the law of the land, just as we are. They are guaranteed Constitutional freedoms, just as we are. If we violate either the law or Constitutionally-guaranteed freedoms in the interest of containing wahabbism, we throw away the very things that the fight is about.

Remember what you're fighting for. We'll win this one on other terms.

So give me your estimate as to when all of the mosques will be shut down in the US and the practice of Islam banned.

Try finding a muslim who is being looked for by the FBI in the muslim community.....tell me how much cooperation you receive. Case in point, Seattle....just about a month ago.

“Create opportunities for our students to embrace, internalize, and practice the moral values established in the Holy Qur’an and the exemplary life of our Prophet Muhammad (S.A.S.)”

There’s the problem right there.

The ACLU, having discovered a religion it loves, will undoubtedly rush to this schools defense.

Within 24 hours, i'd say.

And for that reason we should take the priceless things that we've inherited from our western Judeo-Christian tradition and just flush them down the toilet?

It has been my personal experience that friends and relatives who work for the State Dept. and work in the USAID programs consistently come back from islamic lands with an entirely different mindset. It is almost like a “Stockholm Syndrome” type of transformation where their are core feelings of anti-Israeli and pro-Islamic beliefs.

LOL. Why because their experience doesn't comport with your preconceived, uninformed world view? I have lived a total of nine years in three Islamic countries [Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia] and travelled to many more. I am under no illusions about the threat that militant Islamic fundamentalism poses to our country and Western Civilization, but it is not in our self-interest to demonize and radicalize one billion muslims.
