I prefer the version in Holiday Inn. Besides, that one has Astaire in it instead of Danny Kaye. Speaking of Astaire - "The Way You Look Tonight," and "They Can't Take That Away From Me" come immediately to mind as twentieth century greats. I don't know if there are any songwriters like the Gershwin boys working today.
Astaire over Kaye, yep. But I just loved Kaye in White Christmas. I’ll have to watch Holiday Inn. It’s been a really long time. Maybe I’ll see it differently.
Ah, my Dad knew the Gershwin boys and big bands, everyone from the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, etc. Glenn Miller, the Dorsey brothers, etc. Rosmary Clooney, Vera Ellen (I think that was her name), Bing, and Kaye - White Christmas. That’s my fav movie of all time. Maybe because of the sentiment surrounding it. His fav song/scene was on the train with *snow* but they always cut that out of the tv version.
I’ll try to check out Holiday Inn this year to refresh my memory.
