I think sometimes we forget that sailors are also away from home doing their part to keep us free and safe.

Tonk's Memeory will Remind you.

Never forget the Coast Guard! I sent a box to his station and tried to time it for Thursday, his original day to “work”. It just happened to arrive on Thursday.....the XO came from the Post Office with a box. Tonk said he did one of those Johnny Carson thingys, with his hand to his forehead, and said he bet it was from Alaska. Keeping in mind that you can’t do the “Any Serviceman” thing. He said the expression on the XO’s face was priceless. He had a great time with with it and played him for awhile.

As we hear again and again, from so many of the folks we send care packages to, why would a stranger do this for someone they don’t even know? It is something we can do to honor the jobs our military men and women do of keeping us free and safe.
