Ok Fred, since I support you, here’s some advise;

Don’t attack Hillary until you are running against her. You need to tell everyone what you stand for and why the other Republican candidates are not presidential material. Leave Hillary alone for now.

What are we FOR here on FR?

Hey, the Republican platform is far from perfect; but it's certainly a good starting place.

As Flintlock said on another thread: Pardon me, but just WHERE is it written that the GOP has to nominate a pro-abortion babykiller? I musta missed that plank in the platform.

How many of us know what the Republican platform is?

Yeah, the Red Sux lost again last night, giving up 7 runs in the fifth inning.

Hey, look at it this way: The BoSox arms blanked the Indians for 7 of 8 innings, an 87.5% success rate. (You know kind of like the success rate the Republicans will have if they run a pro-abortion candidate...yeah, the % will be "OK" but if we're talking about actually winning anything, well that's another convo).

"In other words, instead of trying to drag someone else down, lift yourself up. I think that Fred has figured out where he stands on the issues, as a quick look at his website will undoubtedly confirm."

Yep. That is why I am a supporter at this point. While negative attack ads do work, they will not carry the day. Voters want to hear about ideas and getting something done. Thankfully, that would include getting rid of BS government, i.e., "smaller government". Although it will be muted by the mainstream media, that among other things will be Fred's message and it will resonate in time...

I am pulling for the Rockies. I know that sounds pretty lame. I know they’ll have a lot of fans jump on their bandwagon, just because they are hot.

When I was a kid my mom got a crazy idea and we moved from Georgia to Colorado. We only lived there three months, but I still have great memories of that beautiful state.

My brother is still a serious Broncos fan.

Well, there's more than one reason to do that. Look at this thread from last year, "Well, Praise the Rockies" from a Minnesota newspaper about how the Rockies have become pretty much a faith-based organization that is highly stressing personal and team character (from the top down). http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1651584/posts

The article points out how the Rockies' manager is known for his faith; the owners were praising God after the win, as was MVP Matt Holliday. Why do we keep thinking that we have to hide our faith in order to be "successful?"

(Even the writers keep referring to the 21 wins in 22 games as "supernatural" and eerie not only in its length but how each win comes about).

Not really [a head scratcher]. It is better to be FOR something than AGAINST something. Show people the principles that conservatives stand for and what we would do, as we did in the Contract with America. Instead of running against the bogeywoman [we’re better than she is]. That attracts more voters.

Boston Globe probably did some creative editing with this anyway.

What is so hard to figure about that?

Huh?

Fred said this:
“I don’t think we need to worry about Hillary Clinton as much as we need to worry about ourselves,’’ Thompson, a late entry into the presidential race, told the group.

Isn’t what he said the same as what you said? Maybe you were just reaffirming what he said, yeah that’s the ticket....

Some people seem to genuinely dislike Fred Thompson. I don’t rwally know why, except that they think he can’t beat Hillary Clinton. A lot of people have lined up behind Rudy Giuliani just because they think he can beat Hillary Clinton. They are acting on 2 flawed assupmtions: 1) That Hillary will be the Democrat nominee, and 2) That Giuliani actually can beat her.

To the first assumption, I say it is really hard to believe that she won’t get the Dem nod, because of all the free campaign advertising that the media is giving her, all the gushing praise and all the quashing of negative publicity. People like the one who wrote this article want Hillary to win, because she is a member of a “victim” group. However, when it all comes down to it, you can’t ignore the statistics which say that so far, all of our presidents have been white and male. She’s white, I guess, so she’s halfway there.

To the second assumption, I would point out that Rudy Giuliani dropped out of a Senate election and gave her a Senate seat for free. Without that Senate seat, would she be a viable Presidential candidate? I wonder. Can he actually beat her? I don’t know, but to the assumption that he will win because he is a white male, I think those pictures of him in drag will do something to weaken that notion. If we are stupid enough to nominate Rudy Giuliani, anyone who has not seen the pictures of him in drag will see them on the front page of every paper in the US, and as a joke on all the comedy shows.

I guess I am in the minority about this, but I think Fred is exactly right. I am tired of the mud slinging that goes on in national debates. It cheapens the candidates. We as thinkers and leaders need to put a PLAN together as we did in the “contract with America”. We can bash Hillary, Obama and Edwards at FR as much as we want...No harm in that and I love bashing these dispicable, unamerican, gun hating, baby killing, liberals as much as anyone but we need to put forth a conservative agenda that people will rally around.

I think Fred needs to get obsessed with something. It appears to me he isn’t taking the race for the nomination seriously enough. It’s also important to tell the country what we want to do and how that compares to what the dems are talking about and what their philosophy is.

I don’t think you are in the minority. People are attracted to principles and the time for attacking the RAT nominee (presumably Mrs. Bill Clinton) will come later.

But throughout the nomination and election, core principles will continue to be a stronger theme, even than that.

I agree with Fred to some extent BUT it is a known fact most elections are votes against one of the candidates so Hillary’s negatives have to be used BIG time in any campaign
