"THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that language related to the practice and nature of homosexuality be removed from the Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church.
THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that such language be replaced with language that is more theologically compatible with United Methodist tradition, utilizing the medical, theological and social science disciplines to reflect a deeper understanding of Gods good gift of human sexuality."

"We support laws in civil society that define marriage as the union between one man and one woman."
"The United Methodist Church does not condone the practice of homosexuality and consider this practice incompatible with Christian teaching."
"While persons set apart by the Church for ordained ministry are subject to all the frailties of the human condition and the pressures of society, they are required to maintain the highest standards of holy living in the world. The practice of homosexuality is incompatible with Christian teaching. Therefore self-avowed practicing homosexuals are not to be certified as candidates, ordained as ministers, or appointed to serve in The United Methodist Church."
These are just some of the outrageous changes that were approved by the Kansas East Conference. For a full list, visit the following:

To give you an idea on how politically motivated this conference was, check the items on Concealed Carry and the Bush Library at SMU.
So when are they going to start striking offending passages out of the Bible?
But dem’ der’ Methodist sure are against gambling. Can’t have a raffle at our church. No no. God said, “Thou shalt not gamble.” (or did HE?)
But, some how, they can’t find a single solitary passage in the Holy Bible that condemns homosexual behavior. It’s a big-time sell out to the libs. The Methodist Church should be absolutely ashamed of itself. The whole thing is disgusting.
Near as I can tell, that’s what this is effectively doing. Another motion that passed called for a revisit to the UMC’s stance on creation.
wagglebee - thought you might want to hit one of your ping lists with this.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Including Isaiah 3:9
Just withhold the money going to conference and they’ll change their tune......
Looks like the UMC will further cement its slide into obscurity and eventually extinction.
This was only a conference recommendation, the thing has many other steps to go before becoming changed in the Book of Discipline.
That said, I am very aware of my calling to be a shepherd of God’s blessings to me, and to take all efforts to ensure that those blessings are directed towards his will.
Hahahahaha... Hmmm..... what is missing in all this? Oh I know.. THE WORD OF GOD!
You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. (NKJ, Leviticus 18:22)
If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. (NKJ, Leviticus 20:13)
Yea, so, you celebrate your abomination there Methodists and claim you do so in the name of god, you bunch of heretics and blasphermers.
Free will grants humans the ability to do what they will, but for a church to claim gods sanction of such activities is simply insulting.
Gods word never changes but Catholics, Methodists, 7 Day adventists and any number of other RELIGIONS do.
the UMC in Southern states will never go for this
I agree completely, and sense a coming split as we’ve seen in other denominations.
What’s really astounding is you can readily identify a relatively small subset of people at the conference pushed the most radical part of the agenda. The names of the sponsors appear at the bottom of the amendments.
“Gods word never changes but Catholics, Methodists, 7 Day adventists and any number of other RELIGIONS do.”
Yep, and include the Episcopal church in the list as well.
