This bill is the right thing to do.

Republican Rep. Chris Smith (N.J.), a supporter of the bill, tackled the administration’s position head-on, referring to “a conspiracy of obfuscation and expediency [that] tries to muffle any acknowledgment of the Armenian genocide.”

“During the Holocaust the international community waffled and slithered away from responsibility. It did it again in Rwanda, in Bosnia, and it is doing it even as we speak in Darfur,” he said.

“American foreign policy must never be complicit in another government’s denial of genocide.”

even if it rekindles the Iraq war and potentially spreads it elsewhere?

I don’t know, the timing is suspect, imo.

Stupid @ss Dems............................

Yep!!

Nancy Air Force Three has unwittingly trapped herself!
She has to continue to proceed with her false moral posturing about events gone bye, or risk revealing her lack of understanding of geo-political realities that could result in precious American lives being lost.

I do understand the suspicion that attaches itself to Dems handling this at this time. But the fact that so many Republicans (whom I respect) support it reinforces my total support...long overdue IMO.

This is beyond politics. This is about justice.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, a Maryland Democrat, reacted angrily to suggestions that the resolution was part of a Democratic plan to pressure Bush on Iraq by sowing tensions with Turkey, saying there was "zero truth in that."
...and Steny Hoyer lied when he said that. He lied. He lied. He lied.

It’s insulting what they expect people to believe. They cannot even come up with clever lies.

I think he is genetically predisposed to derangement. After all, his own mother named her baby boy, “Steny.”

The Turks should relax. The term “genocide” lost its terrible after Bill Clinton’s claim that the Serbians committed genocide against the “ethnic Albanian” Kosovars was proved by the uncovering of a few dozen bodies, some of which were Serbian.
