GEORGIA'S DROUGHT
Nealz Nuze/The Atlanta Journal Constitution ^ | October 15, 2007 | Neal Boortz

Posted on 10/15/2007 9:04:04 AM PDT by Turret Gunner A20

It is beyond absurd that Atlanta may be on the verge of running out of drinking water while the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers continues to drain Atlanta's main source of water in order to keep some freaking mussels alive in the Apalachicola river basin. Read this story to see what may be in store for our city.

http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/metro/stories/2007/10/14/waterwoes_1015.html?cxntlid=homepage_tab_newstab

Solution? Governor Sonny Perdue should have the Georgia National Guard seize the dam at Lake Lanier and prevent the Corps of Engineers from releasing any more water than is absolutely necessary to meet HUMAN needs. To hell with the purple bankclimber.

This sort of asininity has got to stop.

Believe I heard there is a movement afoot to take water from Wisconsin (where they say they have plenty and that’s not true as their lakes are falling as well due to no-snow). Water wars will be next.

The Corps of Engineers needs to be watched very closely...

I doubt that the ACE is acting on its own - the orders come from higher up, probably the EPA.

(Don't ask why the EPA is above the ACE).

I have been watching some of these water shortage reports, and none of them have even hinted there is water available anywhere in the neighborhood. What I heard is potential water rationing.

Is Georgia running out of drinking water or merely running out of water for putting 25000 gallons on your lawn?

Also, a lot of times damn are built with the understanding that those down river will not be choked off and that a minimum flow will be maintained. I would not be happy if I lived down river and saw the river was bone dry because Atlantans wanted green lawns.

Hell no you ain’t taking our water here in the Badger state. Although I think given the current condition of state finances we should consider selling a little bit.

We have been on a strict watering ban for a month or longer. Multiple $1000 fines for one infraction.

The are shutting down parks and the Braves stadium in an effort to conserve water.

re: # 5

Are you suggesting that over half the population of the state of Georgia should go without adeute water to placate one industry?

You Georgians should be under feet of water due to all of the tropical storms predicted by AL Gore’s global warming.

Actually, I think the hot air from the Goracle is causing all our high pressure systems.

I predict the “no snow” problem will go away in about a month. Maybe less.

Most of the state is on a strict outdoor watering ban. I am in Fulton County (includes Atlanta). For well over six months Fulton could only water outdoors on Saturday or Sunday (depending on odd/even address) and then only between the hours of midnight and 10:00am. Just a few weeks ago Fulton had a complete outdoor water ban. Many other counties are also on a complete outdoor watering ban.

The fines: $250 first time and then $500 each other time.

Our green lawns died by June.

That’s what they’ve been hoping for three years now. There is no season for snowmobilers in Northern WI anymore.

My brother has a place in Minocqua and every year the lake drops lower. What happened to your winter snows?

Georgia is not only hot, but it looks burnt often enough. Forget the lawns. Some transplants try the lawn thing here in Fairbanks, which is fine for three months of the year and the other nine months it is below freezing such as right now and probably under snow (maybe a couple inches at this time.) Sensible people seed their yard with gravel when the climate is against them.
