MERIDEN - The end of Ramadan, a monthlong period of fasting and reflection, was particularly joyful for members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community this year because they celebrated it at their new mosque in South Meriden.

“Meriden is pleased to have you here,” Benigni said.
Afterward, he added: “What we appreciate is that the mosque has reached out to us. We want to make Meriden a better place, and they do, too.”
Hmmm... so, what’s next for Meriden? Publicly-funded American madrassas? Wouldn’t doubt it...

Soon after moving into their new building, Husain said the members went out into the neighborhood to introduce themselves and present residents with a small gift (chocolates), which is their custom. But... they gave out chocolates, which is their custom!

Soon after moving into their new building, (New mosque in South Meriden, CT) Husain said the members went out into the neighborhood to introduce themselves and present residents with a small gift (chocolates), which is their custom. The mosque's name, Baitul Aman, means "House of Peace" in Arabic. A large sign outside the mosque displays the motto "Love for All, Hatred for None" and is reflective of the community's gentle philosophy.

I'd like to check that out, but I can't find a translating dictionary in anglicized Arabic - they all go directly to Arabic script.

I didn't even know "we" were in the Ramadan season. I think this is a step in the right direction. Well, maybe. Not that just I didn't know, but none of my friends reminded me and my local news didn't either. Could it be that we just don't give a rip.
Realizing that not giving a rip, could on the other hand, mean complacency, and falling asleep at the wheel isn't a good thing either. Hmmmmm
