Rush Limbaugh Earns Big Money From Senate Letter Chastising Him

Sunday, October 14, 2007

Rush Limbaugh

WASHINGTON — A letter sent to Rush Limbaugh's boss demanding he be chastised for comments he made on the air about "phony soldiers" is now on the auction block, and the latest bid is a cool $41,400.

One hundred percent of the money raised from the eBay auction will go to educate the children of Marines and law enforcement officers who died while on duty, the auction says.

Bids will continue until Friday for the letter signed by 41 Democratic senators and sent on Oct. 2 to Mark P. Mays, president of Clear Channel, the parent company of the conservative talk show host's radio broadcast. The winning bidder will get the letter, the "Halliburton briefcase in which this letter is secured 24 hours a day;" a letter of thanks from Limbaugh and a picture of the talkmeister announcing the auction at a speech in Philadelphia delivered last Thursday.

"This historic document may well represent the first time in the history of America that this large a group of U.S. senators attempted to demonize a private citizen by lying about his views. As such, it is a priceless memento of the folly of (Senate Majority Leader) Harry Reid and his 40 senatorial co-signers," reads the eBay announcement.

As of midday Sunday, 95 bids by 36 bidders had been made on the letter, whose opening bid price was $100.

Playing up the controversy over comments Limbaugh made last month in which he used the term "phony soldiers," seemingly to describe U.S. troops opposed to the Iraq war, Limbaugh told his audience last week

The previous question was: Tom Cruise is a movie star who champions Scientology. But what if he championed Girl Scouting instead?” Marilyn vos Savant selected three to print in Parade from all the replies she received, and they were:

1. “We’d have a much easier time recruiting leaders!” from Tracy Coogle, Richmond, VA.

2. “He’d proclaim that Thin Mints would cure depression. (OK, this time he’d be right.)” from Ronda Wilson, Peabody, MA

3. “The next Mission: Impossible would be about surviving a two-week camping trip with a dozen teenage girls.” from Tom Moore, Everett, WA

Hope this helps. In my opinion, if Rush were Supreme Court justice, he’d nullify Dingy Harry Reid.

For all we know the high bid will come from the DNC or some minion

But they're gonna have to part with some serious cash in order to do so...less money with which to accomplish their goals - not a bad thing if you ask me

Put it on my watch list when I first heard about it. Currently at $44,100.00.

Hope Dingy Harry and the treasonist 41 choke on it.

Dear Senators:

The nest time you think you're going to take it to Rush, please remember to bring lots of vaseline for your own personal use.

Rush is vetting all bidders to insure that no Dems may bid.

No, no, no. This way if the DNC pays huge for the letter, the Phoney 41 have to meet the number or look like they hate the military. Rush takes the payment from the DNC,...demands the Phoney 41 match his contribution. That way it all comes out of the hides of purulent, traitorous, democrats, and Rush gets all of glory, and the military, for once is supported by anerobic, foul smelling democrats. It is a win, win, win for the miliary and Rush.

I wouldn’t be surprised if she steered clear of this nonsense.

No, she couldn't resist signing it. She's on there, a piece of lying liberal history.

Those 41 senators could try using the other half of Rush’s brain and they still wouldn’t be able to keep up with him.

Yes, folks pointed that out to me. Well, she’s the one who comes off liking like an idiot. I wonder if some of these liberals every get angry that their buds dragged them into a no-win situation. Limbuagh is going to win this one, and make a lot of money for his causes. Signers will simply look stupid.

In the past, I’ve been a little more generous than you...I kind of liked Di, thought she was more independant than she turned out to be and even supported her in her first go-round.

I was wrong.

Some of us tune into certain candidates mid-course, and don’t realize their history. Diane has been around a long time. You probably know most of it. I realized we had a real dud on our hands when that Desert National Park was established decades ago. Her husband’s company was reported to have been given a sweet deal regarding mineral rights. I forget the exact particulars now. This put her on my radar, and it soon became obvious we stood for diametricly opposed ideals.

Wasn’t Ken Salazar as a candidate, the one who made promises that he was a different, more fair Democrat who would work for inclusion of all parties.

Yup. And yes, Colorado voters fell for it. (Though to be fair, we've had a huge influx of Californians in recent years, and they bring the same voting habits that sunk California to Colorado. No offense to California Freepers.) I'm telling everyone I know about Salazar signing this letter -- and then I'm asking them to do the same. Either he didn't know what he was signing was a lie (which makes him incompetent) or he knew it was a lie and didn't care.

Well, I am embarassed. Both my Montana senators signed it. The libs are surely taking over this state.
Tester and Baucus both got a letter from me but I know, from past experience, that the reply I get will be disconnected, disheartening and prove that they are completely out of touch with me.

Rush has said that each bid is being ‘authroized’ to watch for such shenanigans.
