IN OUR FLAWED SYSTEM, EVEN CRIMINALS CAN’T BE SENT HOME

America's immigration system is obviously broken, but to get a sense for just how dysfunctional it really is, scan the pages of Ames Holbrook's “The Deporter." This first-person account of the four years Holbrook spent working to deport criminal aliens from the United States is as hair-raising as it is distressing.

Take Holbrook's description of his encounter with an illegal alien named “Rodolfo," a career criminal “with eight felony convictions, burglary to battery, and a sex assault thrown in." Holbrook walked him out of jail but instead of throwing him out of the country, he had to release him free and clear. Why? Because he falsely claimed he was from Cuba.

There is a short list of countries - in Holbrook's terminology the “Big Four" - that do not take back their criminal citizens: Cuba, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia....

Rodolfo, who was most likely a Mexican, knew that if he admitted his true nationality he'd be deported back home. So he claimed to be Cuban and without any document to prove otherwise .....

This is a story for anyone who is concerned about how the failure to secure this country's borders imperils our safety and our nation's security. But it's only one story. Frighteningly, each of the other components of the immigration system is just as dysfunctional as the deportation branch described here.

Michael W. Cutler is a former senior special agent of the Immigration and Naturalization Service.

This is pretty interesting and lines up with what I’ve been saying that local LEO’s don’t get to go after our citizen criminals because they are too busy with illegal aliens.

From a message left to a blogger:

......So, what are we doing now? We’re basically policing Mexico.

“Hey Ed. I’m a Phoenix police officer. Pretty good article today (Oct. 11). Not too bad. I just want to comment on it briefly, something that nobody’s really pointed out yet, I don’t think.

“When you contacted that spokesperson for the Governor’s Office and she said if every single police officer was doing primary immigration enforcement, what else would they be doing? You know, they’d be too busy. Well, the thing that our union wants to try to point out is that in Maryvale or the central city precincts, some of these other precincts, we can go a 40-hour workweek and never deal with a citizen.

“We don’t want to do primary immigration enforcement; we just want to have our policy changed so that it’s a tool that we can use for specific investigations. It’s just another tool that we can have when dealing with criminal activity.

“But the street cop, every single call the street cop is going to involves illegal immigrants, for the most part, in the central city. Whether it’s a big problem or a small problem.

“So, what are we doing now? We’re basically policing Mexico.

“I know that Harris says we need the police officers to go after violent criminals. Well, we can’t go after violent criminals because every single radio call we go on, every call for service, involves illegal immigrants. You know. I mean, we just . . . it’s crazy.

“And we’re not saying, OK, if every call involves illegal immigrants that we need to start deporting them.

“That’s not it. Hey, we just want another tool to help us with investigations.

“And help with DUIs, too. I mean, that could be considered kind of an endangerment, a misdemeanor-type crime that involves illegals.”

(By now the voice mail was telling him the two-minute limit on messages was approaching.)

“Anyway,” he said, “thanks a lot, bye.”

The cop was calmer than most of us would be if we had to deal with this problem on the street while answering to those in ivory towers. And if he’s right, if officers are being made to police Mexico here in the U.S., then couldn’t the rest of us at least police the politicians?

“This is a story for anyone who is concerned about how the failure to
secure this country’s borders imperils our safety and our nation’s security.”

Thus, not a story that would interest Democrats.

Except to try to bury this sort of information.

And to keep their “useful idiot” status with CAIR, Hammas, Hexbollah,
Wahhabis, Iranian rulers, North Korean dictators, etc.

I used to work for an immigration agency for the government and I can tell you it was the saddest joke. These agencies and the buffoons working in them are throwing your money right in the trash.

“Nothing will be done under this President.”

Neither was anything done under the presidents since 1960 and I doubt that anything will change in the future. There seems to be an interest group, consisting of dems and rinos, that wants to lead this country away from the Constitution and worship at the altar of globalism.

Perhaps building a 3 sided prisonlike facility up against the border with a catch and drop policy will solve the “deportation” problem?

I can believe it. And Hillary wants to turn our health care over to people with the government attitude and her followers say....GEE... FREE HEALTH CARE!!!! oh goody!

I worked at the post office during Christmas once and for some there, one loud mouthed minority person in particular, a package marked fragile just meant she threw it harder. I heard her more than once saying "They Can't Fire Me".

PC is killing us.

One of the biggest problems we have in deporting illegal aliens, is that many people think of it as punishment.

If someone embezzles $10,000 from an employer, is caught, and forced to repay the money (without interest), but suffers no other consequences as a result of their illegal action, are they being punished? They are simply returning money which did not belong to them in the first place, and not even repaying the entire cost of their action.

Deporting illegal aliens is analogous. They have no right to be in the U.S., and cost Americans money (on balance) by being here. Deportation simply returns them to where they are supposed to be, and they are not expected to repay what they have cost. This cannot, rationally, be regarded as punishment.

Since there is no punishment involved (for a first offense), there should be no need for courts, lawyers, etc. It should simply be a matter of determining whether a person can show any legitimate reason for being here, and returning them, promptly, to where they belong, with no fuss.
