The reason we're in the "mess" we're in is because we failed to react to repeated attacks on our people and interests, opting instead for diplomacy or just pretending that it was a legal issue, instead of a challenge to our will to fight for ourselves.

As for the bills written so that only a lawyer could understand, I agree that most legislation today is often purposely designed to confuse so that it can hide a bunch of unnecessary pork and loopholes for special interest groups.

But "we the people" continue to elect lawyers! Go figure!
