Sen. Harry Reid lured two young children to the public spotlight to help him pass a massive expansion of government health insurance. Gemma and Graeme Frost, 9 and 12 years old respectively, were severely injured in a car accident three years ago. Because liberal lawmakers cannot honestly defend their expansion plans as bona fide aids to the needy, they have surrounded themselves with the Frosts and other kiddie human shields to deflect any tough scrutiny. They invoke the kiddie card to attack their critics for "attacking the children." After 12-year-old Graeme Frost delivered the Democrat radio address, which was penned for him by Senate staffers, CONSERVATIVES ON THE FREEREPUBLIC.com FORUM (emphasis mine) and across the Internet asked the questions the MSM wouldn't ask about the family's financial situation. What is verifiable: The Frosts own a home now worth an estimated $300,000. The children's father owns commercial real estate and his own small business, but chose not to buy health insurance for himself and his wife, whom he hired as an employee. Gemma and Graeme both attend expensive private schools. Moreover, Frost's family comes from considerable means. In other words: The public trough is not the Frost's last and only resort. But this family made choices. Choices have consequences. Taxpayers of lesser means should not be forced to subsidize them. The Democrats sorely resent that they can no longer peddle their Big Nanny propaganda unchallenged.

Well, the private insurance plan they wanted was $1,200 a month. And the car I want to drive is a Hummer, so shouldn't I be entitled to reliable transportation?
FACTS are ONLY for CONSERVATIVES......Liberals don't need them.
Ok so they're making $45K a year, they have let's say a $1100/mo mortgage and a car payment or maybe two, and health insurance is $1200/mo for the family (or, per earlier FR research reported in the article, somewhat less than $500/mo).
I gotta say: hey folks, financially you are VERY AVERAGE AMERICANS.
Oh, except for having all four kids in private school, which either is an indulgence (because choose-your-school vouchers are not available to all) or a non-issue (at least one is on scholarship according to some articles).
This strategy has been highlighted by Ann Coulter speaking about the Jersey Girls, et. al.
Good point. The Jersey Girls played the “victimology” game and had their 15 minutes. But they overplayed their roles and it became known that they were all partisan Democrats who were just exploiting the tragedy of 9/11 to advance a personal agenda. The only sucker who fell completely for their crock was Chris Matthews - who early on suggested that the one he interviewed run for Congress!
Right - and the really disgraceful thing is that Reid, et al., think we’re so stupid we’ll fall for this third-rate political soap opera. With the Internet, 24/7 cable, talk radio, etc. their old media monopoly is gone. And they’re the only ones who don’t seem to realize it.
Hmmm, wait for it, wait for it -—AHA, HillaryCar coming to you soon. You can’t just WALK to the health clinic with your free health insurance in tow, let us provide a vehicle for you too. (Even though with all the Gorebasm going on, we soon might have to start getting up off of our rear ends and hoof it everywhere) Hillary will giveth and Gore will take away.
You won’t hear the democrats remind us that SCHIP was originally the president’s program. They just want to tweak it a little to add adults and people who already have insurance. They won’t say it’s a bad plan, like they always complain about No Child Left Behind — because that’s Bush’s plan — it’s automatically bad. But when it’s SCHIP, and they can use it to punish the president, they push for more growth and exploit the kids to get their digs in.
