"Let the children come to me"
etc. ~ the majesty of the language does nothing to elevate the sanctity of the Word.
Jesus prescience in these matters is truly astounding.
Anne said, "So we think Jews go to heaven."
I was an altar boy.
Do you think he got the Catholic view of redemption right?
I'm no theologian. The last classes on religion I had were in 1969. I just thought it was an interesting commentary.

Thanks for the link.
I did not remember her exact words, when I said "shortcut" (and I was in a rush to get ready to drive my son to work - he works 11 til 7:30)
Anyway, I'm back. I found the transcript, but can't seem to "cut and paste" it, so please refer to the link for her actual words.
Here are Anne's words about being a Christian
"Well, it's a lot easier. It's kind of a fast track."[snip]BTW, Deutsch was only pretending to give Anne a chance to explain herself.Yes. that is what Christianity is. We believe the Old testament, but ours is more like Federal express.
You [I think she meant Jews] have to obey laws. We [I think she meant Christians] know we're all sinners--
He kept cutting her off when she tried to explain.
Good religious discussions can rarely take place when the speaker is interrupted.
It’s great when people make commentary on something they obviously did not watch.
Sorry, but I really don’t care what Anne thinks. She’s a pretty good writer and manages to get under the collective skin of liberals, a trick which I enjoy, but her opinion is no better or worse than mine or yours or... David Duke!
Does anybody understand what is meant by a “tempest in a teapot?”

Exactly. And if you had read you would know I was not commenting on Ann. I was commenting on Falwell.
Problem is that Ann never said anything about anybody going anyplace....... This author knows less about what the Bible says than she claims to know the ignorance of others.
I'm no more an expert theologian than..
Author's theology isn't Catholic, isn't Reformed, isn't much of anything but a rant.
AMEN!
Thanks for the link, although I’m surprised you got that source. I scanned the transcript. It looks like the one I saw Fox.
I think Anne meant it was easier to be a Christian than a Jew; that it's easier to accept and depend on Christ's redemption of us, than it is to depend on our own works for our salvation.
Christ said, "My yoke is sweet and my burden, light."
I wish Deutsch would have let her talk, instead of cutting her off all the time.
“Talking a good line means little; it’s doing that gets rewarded.”
I guess all that stuff about the thief on the cross being saved is false then. [And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise”]. Who’d a thunk?
Thanks for starting this thread. It’s given me much food for thought.
First, put away all thoughts and ideas about replacement theology (church replacing Israel, etc), as well the notion that (the church is Spiritual Israel). That's pretty much what you're thinking Ann is saying in her book, and I have no intentions of defending her position.
Let's agree that there is only one body of Christ. If we can't establish that, then we're just gonna spin our wheels. We also have to agree that Paul is the real deal, and spoke nothing but the truth.
Gal 3:16 "Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ." Paul says in this verse that all the goodies (justification by faith, promises, inheritance) comes solely thru Christ, and not via the nation of Israel.
Gal 3:17 "And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect." Here Paul is saying that the promises made to Abraham and his Seed were made before there ever was a nation of Israel.
Abraham wasn't a Jew or a Hebrew, rather he was a Gentile (for lack of a better term) when God made His covenant with him.
Gal 3:29 "And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise."
Of course; God has made provisions for the nation of Israel. But, at this time they have no Temple, no Priesthood, thus no sacrifice for their sins. They have to get into the body of Christ just like non-Jews have to. Sadly, not all Jews are saved, and not all those who profess to be Christians are either. The bible is specific about that.
If you want to research this further, there is nothing better than "The Mystery of Israel and the Church" written by a Jewish Christian named Art Katz.
Of all things I have ever read on FR, you, sir, who posted this featured article, take the cake. This is the most antichrist and satanic thing I have ever read on FR. By fair words and simple speech you deceive the hearts of the simple.
Your subtility is only exceeded by that of the devil himself in the garden when he said “Hath God said.”
The devil had to first do something with what God said, his word. Not to eat of the certain tree was clear enough, so here comes the devil to distort what he said...and destroy Eve’s faith in what God did say.
Now understand, neverdem, this is precisely what you have done. “Hath God said” that Jesus died for the sins of the entire world - with no exceptions? Absolutely yes. No one in their right mind after reading the New Testament should doubt that is precisely what “God said.”
Yet this is what you have done. You, like the serpent in the garden, are making an attempt to distort the clear word of God.
It won’t work this time, too many of us now, after observing the 6000 year track record of the devil, are wise to his ways. Give it up, neverdem, except for the most naive and Biblically illiterate among us, your broadside attack on the word of God will never fly.
Thanks for the link.
