King undergoes operation

BangkokPost.com, Agencies Hospitalised Saturday for treatment of cerebral ischemia, His Majesty the King underwent about eight hours of surgery and related treatment for a blood clot which obstructed the flow of blood to his brain, official Thai News Agency reported.

His Majesty was admitted to Bangkok's Siriraj Hospital Saturday for threatment after showing symptoms of loss of strength in the right side of his body, the Royal Household announced.

Doctors diagnosed the king, 79, as suffering from lack an inadequate blood supply to the outer part of the left-side of his brain, said the Royal Household in an announcement broadcast on Thai TV.

According to the Stanford University medical school website, "Cerebral ischemia occurs when the brain does not receive enough blood flow to maintain normal neurologic function."

Following eight hours of drug administration by doctors, the king regained strength over his right leg and other parts of his body, the bureau said.

Thailand's revered monarch, who turns 80 on December 5, has suffered heart-related problems in the past.

Last year the King marked his 60th year on the throne, in nationwide celebrations that was attended by royalty from around the world.

He is the world's longest reining monarch. Although a constitutional monarch with no political powers other that the right to veto bills and appointments as head of state, King Bhumibol's moral authority is legendary and deemed a key element in the country's political stability over past decades.

King Bumibol is a very good man who has done a lot for the Thai people, he is also an American Citizen who was born, I think it was in Massachusets in 1927. He needs all of our prayers, the heir to the throne is said not to be such a good man as he, and Thailand needs his calming influence in this trying time as we transition back to an elected govt. with the far left and the anarchists that caused this present problem threatening to cause more trouble

from Wilkipedia:

Bhumibol was born in the United States and educated primarily in Switzerland. Bhumibol is also an accomplished musician, artist, and sailor.

He appears to have been able to withstand any number of crises that would have reduced most of us to rubble!

Prayers for the King.

God Bless the King, God bless Thailand. God bless the Thai people, free and strong, never conquered, never colonized.

In an age of despots of every ilk, he unites his people and his nation in ways they can only envy.

Holy Father,

You are the Source of all we need. We commit to You King Bhumibol and ask that You hold him close to You as he endures this trial. Grant him the complete restoration of proper blood flow to his brain and renew his body so that every cell, tissue, organ, and system functions properly. Show favor toward him, Lord, and help him to have faith in Your powerful providence. We bless Your Name and magnify You, Gracious Lord, for hearing and responding to the prayers of Your people. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

What a great country we live in! Isn’t it wonderful knowing that any little boy in this country can grow up to become King of Siam?

Seriously, I do not see how he can be an American citizen as the Constitution prohibits Americans from holding titles.

In Thailand, the people wear Yellow Shirts in honor of the King every Monday.

It’s not mandatory, but you see a lot of yellow shirts. People wear them other days too, but Monday is the unspoken day and you see a lot.

I just got back 2 weeks ago, after having been there for about a week on a business trip.

Very charming and polite people.
