SANTA CLARITA A 15-truck pile-up on a rain-slicked Southern California freeway left 10 people injured and at least one missing, sent flames shooting out of a tunnel and blocked a key link between Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Fire Inspector Jason Hurd said the accident -- the wreckage stretching a half mile -- began when two trucks collided late Friday and started a chain reaction in Interstate 5's southbound truck-only tunnels. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHP traffic advisory: CHP officers are advising detouring traffic to use route 126 west all the way to U.S. 101 in Ventura, then turn south to Los Angeles there. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Flames shot out of both ends of the tunnels, which run under the regular freeway near the intersection with the Antelope Valley Freeway, according to broadcast news reports.
"Flames were leaping out of both sides of the tunnel 60 and 70 feet high," Hurd said.
Twenty people evacuated the fiery tunnel on foot, including the 10 injured, Hurd said, and five trucks were stuck inside. One truck driver was unaccounted for, and authorities were worried that more may be missing.

Thats never a good thing
Dollars to donuts there was an illegal alien truck driver responsible.
“Driver’s license? I don’t need no stinkin’ driver’s license!”
Southern Californians don’t know how to drive in the rain. Or not in the rain, for that matter.
Thanks for the update!

“Southern Californians dont know how to drive in the rain. Or not in the rain, for that matter?”
my, my...what a wide brush you have grandma! ROFLMAO
Thanks
“dont know how to drive in the rain”
It rains inside of tunnels in California?
No sure I would agree. I moved from No. California (spent lots of time LA) to Texas several years ago. Want to see people who have no idea how to drive on a freeway, come here. Want to see where red lights and stop signs are just a “suggested stop” come here.
Bump...

yep, I was greeted by the news upon reveille. :-]
Very familiar with that intersection - always a danger. All the northern traffic into LA goes though that small gap in the San Gabriels. When the earthquake flattened the triple overhead a few years ago - traffic was screwed up on the 5 for months. There are a couple of two lane winding roads through the mountains but they cannot handle much traffic. They really need an alternative route but the mountians, and aquaduct don’t leave many options.
I don’t know what part of Texas, but some of the worst drivers I’ve ever encountered were around Conroe.
I know exactly what you are talking about with the freeway driving here in Austin. When it rains, all speeds are 45 MPH, be that on a freeway or side street.
Want to see where red lights and stop signs are just a suggested stop come here.
I always look at the rear view mirror before stopping at a yellow light that is getting ready to turn red. I've had several close calls with "Bubba" in a truck behind me and all I can see is his grille.
Oh cripes. Can’t you one-issue people let it rest for just once? I am firmly against illegal immigration myself, but you “it’s the illegals’ fault” people are more tiresome than the “it’s Bush’s fault” mantra.”
Don’t you realize that your message is watered down and your credibility is lost every time you make a wholly unqualified statement like the one I’m replying to?
The stupidity of it all almost makes me want to become an illegal supporter for the sole purpose of irritating you.
Keep your illegal alien whining on germain threads, until you have an actual reason to bring it here. And a hispanic surname is not enough either, should one come out.
